My eyes fluttered open slowly, the light creeping in through the curtains causing my head to throb even more. This was why I didn't drink that much, I reminded myself bitterly. I reached over to the end table, trying to locate my phone.

Wait, I bolted upward, panicked. Where the fuck was I?

As I took in the extravagant hotel room around me, I remembered. I peered over to find G sleeping soundly in the bed beside me, his bare top half exposed. A slight smirk made its way across my face when I thought of the night's prior events. Still, I needed to get out of there.

Rubbing my temples, I moved the sheet off of me, careful not to wake him. I tiptoed around the room, gathering my clothes and sliding them back on. I picked up my purse that had been discarded on the floor near the door, trying to find my phone hidden in its depths. Once I found it, I pressed the home button, seeing about fifty messages from Brooke asking about where I was. Instead of responding, I chucked it back into my bag. Grabbing my heels, I pulled them on despite wanting to go barefoot instead. My feet, and the rest of my body for that matter, were aching.

Reaching for the door handle, I opened the door as slowly as I could, careful to be as quiet as possible. After I moved out of the room, I closed the door behind me with a click.

Home free.

I made my way over to the elevators, going down to the main lobby. After I exited the hotel, I quickly hailed a taxi, going back across town to the apartment I shared with Brooke. My only hope was that she was either not home or sleeping still. As I checked the time on the phone, I saw that it was just barely after eleven, so the latter was a viable possibility.

I unlocked the door to our apartment, breathing a sigh of relief when Brooke was nowhere in sight. I kicked off my heels, padding over to my bedroom door. Just as I reached for the knob, I heard someone speak behind me.

"There you are."

I jumped, spinning around to find Brooke with her arms crossed and a knowing smile on her face. "You scared me, dude."

"And where the hell were you last night?" she raised an eyebrow at me, ignoring my comment. "We went to get a drink and by the time we came back, you were gone."

"Yeah, well you kind of just left me all alone-"

She cut me off. "Like hell we left you alone, honey. We left you with G, who, might I add, you were ogling at beforehand."

I rolled my eyes, going to turn back to my room.

"You left with him, didn't you?" she spoke, grabbing my wrist.

I shrugged. "Maybe I did."

She shook her head. "Don't get yourself wrapped up with him, Elena."

"Oh my god, Brooke," I responded, aggravated. "We hooked up, so what? We didn't exchange fucking vows or something. Relax. Besides, wasn't that why you left me with him?"

She inhaled deeply. "I'm serious, Elena. Just... He's very easy to get fucked up with. I'm just telling you to be careful."

"Whatever. You don't need to chastise me. I'm an adult and I don't plan on seeing him again, okay?"

"I'm not chastising you, I-"

I cut her off before she could continue. "Look, I've got a bitch of a headache so I'm just gonna go lay down. Goodnight, Brooke."

Before she could say anything else, I went into my room, closing the door. After dropping my purse on the floor near my bed, I yanked my jeans and top off before sliding an oversized T-shirt on instead. Climbing underneath the covers, I tried my best to block out the persistent aching in my head.

Not long after, I heard a faint buzzing coming from my purse. Who the hell would be texting me? I thought before leaning over to retrieve my purse off the floor. A text was on the screen, accompanied by a number that I didn't recognize.

Hey, where did you go? Morning afters not your thing?

It took a second for it to click in who it was.

G? How did you get my number? I quickly typed back in response.

It wasn't long before he texted back.

? What do you mean? You gave it to me last night, although you were pretty smashed so it's understandable that you wouldn't remember.

Fuck, I thought to myself, rather embarrassed. I almost just didn't text him back, but I figured that would make things even more awkward.

Sorry, was all I could manage to respond.

It's all good lol. Wouldn't mind seeing you again tho, last night was amazing ;)

I inhaled sharply, unsure of what to say. On one hand, I was 100% willing to take him up on his offer. However, remembering the warning Brooke had given me, I decided to take her advice. Even though I wasn't entirely sure of the legitimacy behind her claims, she was my best friend and I knew it would probably be in my best interest to take her seriously. Besides, I liked the idea of frustrating him for some reason.

Look, I'm sorry, but I don't think that's a good idea.

Okay, why not?

I'm not interested. Probably one of the biggest lies I had ever told. Of course I was interested.

Oh really? Because you seemed pretty interested last night

At that point, I wanted nothing more than to punch him in his asshole face. No way was I going to sleep with him again, or at least that's what I thought. Brooke was right.

Wow, you're a huge asshole. Does shit like that usually get girls back in bed with you?

It took a few more moments to receive another text.

I'm sorry. That was an asshole thing to say. Let me make it up to you

You are fucking unbelievable. I quipped back.

Look, I'll leave you alone if that's what you want. Don't text me back. But if you wanna talk about how much of an asshole I am or whatever, I want you to come to this party tonight. I'll text you the address.

I decided against texting him back. I didn't even look down at my phone when it buzzed a few moments later with a new text message. I'd figure out what I was going to do later, even though I already knew what the outcome was going to be. I was weak-willed, and I was going to end up going, anyways. There was something about him that I was drawn to, and I wanted so badly to see him again. This was not going to end well.
