A/N: I was going to wait until Friday to post this, but whatever lol. I'm going to try and get another chapter up relatively soon. There's going to be maybe like, four chapters left after this one, depending on how I get the plot sorted for the ending. Vote/comment if you like it! Also this hit 86k! Thank you all so much for getting this fic to this point. I appreciate all of you. x

Elena's POV

We arrived at the restaurant that Marty told us we were meeting at about five minutes before ten. It was relatively tiny; there were a few pastel-coloured booths lining one wall, and besides that, there was only a row of stools at a counter to sit at. The black and white checkered floor helped contribute to the almost retro nature of the place. On the way there, G had told me that it was a place that him and his friends had often hung out at when they were younger, and it was their go-to spot since then.

"It's cute," I commented as we walked in the door.

G chuckled. "I knew you'd like it."

Aside from Marty, G and I, none of the others had arrived yet.

"Holy fuck," Marty exclaimed when G and I sat down at the table with him. "I don't think G has ever been early to a thing in his life! You really are changing him for the better."

G leaned over the table, playfully punching him on the arm. "You're fucking hilarious."

Marty laughed loudly, taking a sip out of the coffee that he already had on the table. "I know I am."

"Speaking of being late, where is everyone else?" G asked.

Marty shrugged. "They'll maybe show up in the next hour."

G laughed. "Pretty much."

We sat and talked a while longer until G's phone began vibrating. He pulled it out, looking at the screen. Exhaling, he pushed himself away from the table, going to stand up. "Sorry, I have to take this. Be right back."

I nodded as he leaned down to kiss my forehead before exiting the restaurant.

"How's the cuffed life going for you two?" Marty asked jokingly once he was gone.

I laughed, shaking my head. "Ummm... Good, I guess. He... He told me he loved me last night."

"Wait, what?" he set his cup down on the table. "Actually?"

I nodded. "I didn't really think much of it because of how drunk he was, but he said it again this morning- I don't know."

"Jesus," he cut me off, raising his eyebrows. "Like, I could already tell he was serious about you, but wow." He paused for a second. "I really think that you're good for him. You kind of keep him grounded, and he really does care about you. A lot. I can tell by the way he acts with you."

I smiled. "That means a lot, thank you."

He smiled back, patting my hand as G came back to the table.

"Sorry, studio booking and shit. What are you guys talking about?" G asked as he sat down.

Marty shrugged. "Oh, nothing."

G eyed us skeptically. "Right."

"You know, the usual stuff about how in love y'all are," Marty chuckled.

G shook his head. "You're so nosey, aren't you?"

"Nah, I just think it's nice. You're good for each other."

"Thanks for the input."

"Hey, I'm just saying."

"Here comes the rest of your friends," I spoke, changing the subject as they came in the door.

"Thank god," G muttered, picking up the menu off the table.

I wrapped my arms around myself as we left the restaurant, and I heard G laugh.

"Cold?" he asked me.

I nodded. "A little."

He took off his jacket, putting it over my shoulders. "We really need to get you one of these, Lena."

"Nah," I laughed, sliding my arms into the sleeves as his hand wrapped around my waist. "Wearing yours is a lot cooler."

"Oh, yeah. The fact that it's like ten times too big for you is so cool," he responded.

"Well-"

"See ya, loverboy," I heard Marty yell from behind us, a chorus of laughter from G's other friends soon following.

"Hey, that's my nickname," Blizzy spoke, still laughing.

G turned around, flipping them off before we got to his car.

"Are you like, embarrassed to be with me or something?" I asked him once we got into his car. "You kept getting really defensive every time our relationship was brought up today."

"What? No," he replied as he started the car. "I told you before that I didn't care what they think about it. It's just annoying sometimes, I guess. Not you, just the way they act about you."

"What do you mean?"

He sighed. "They know I'm afraid of commitment. I know I'm afraid of commitment. And you're the first girl I've had more than a hookup with really like, ever." He paused for a moment. "I don't know, Lena. It's got nothing to do with being embarrassed or any of that shit. I just don't really care for them to know everything about our relationship because I know how they can be."

"Oh."

"Hey," he grabbed my hand. "I love you. Seriously."

I smiled a bit as he squeezed my hand. It still took me by surprise hearing those words come from his mouth. "I love you, G."

His thumb brushed over mine. "Then that's all that matters, right?"

I shook my head. "You really are getting so sappy, you know that?"

"Don't ruin the moment," he chuckled, loosening his grasp on my hand. I almost reached over to grab his hand again as he put it back on the steering wheel, but I stopped myself.

"Sorry, loverboy," I laughed with him.

"You are so gonna get it," his tone was serious, but the smile playing on his lips betrayed him.

"I'm so scared, really," I replied sarcastically as he pulled into the parking lot at his apartment building.

"You should be," he smirked as he leaned over, pressing his lips against my neck.

"You're so dumb, you know that?" I sighed as he moved so his mouth was level with mine.

He laughed before pressing his lips onto mine. "Yep."
