A/N: This chapter was going to be longer, but I need to get things sorted out. I think I know what I want to happen next, it's just a matter of getting it written out and I'm too tired and lazy to do it right now but hopefully that means another update will be up quicker. Thanks so much for reading, and vote/comment if you liked it. x
Elena's POV
After my flight arrived in LAX, I retrieved my suitcase, beginning my search in the crowds for Brooke, who was picking me up. Finally, I found her amongst the huge crowds of people. She noticed me as well, a smile making its way onto her face.
She wrapped her arms around me. "I missed you so much, Elena."
"I missed you too," I responded, releasing her a moment later.
"I'm parked just over there," she spoke, heading off in the direction of the doors as I followed closely behind.
Once we put my suitcase in the trunk, we got in and she began the drive back to the apartment.
"How is everything?" I asked her, attempting to make some sort of small talk.
"Alright, I guess," she shrugged. "Pretty boring, really. How about you? How were your shoots?"
"They went really well, actually," I responded. "It was fun."
"I saw the Instagram pictures. You looked so good," she smiled at me as we were waiting at a red light.
"Aw, thanks Brooke. That means a lot," I smiled back.
We talked for a bit longer about the few shoots I did, and how work was going for her when she eventually changed the subject.
"So, did you stay with G?" She asked the question in a non-threatening tone, even though I knew she already knew the answer and she wasn't happy about it at all.
"Well, yeah," I replied, trying not to make her angry with me.
She exhaled, not saying anything for a few moments. "How are things going with you guys?"
I sighed, pushing my sunglasses from the top of my head onto my face, trying to block the sun that was shining in my eyes. "You really don't need to act like you care, Brooke."
"Oh my god, Elena," I saw her roll her eyes as she pulled into her parking spot at the apartment, putting the car in park. "For your information, I do care. I care a lot. You're my best friend."
I gripped the door handle, pushing it open. "If you really want to know how it's going, it's going really well. I'm... We're actually dating now."
"You're what?" she spoke, her tone exasperated. She reached out to grab my arm before I could exit the car. "Elena..."
I turned back to her, and the look on her face read disappointment, and possibly even disgust. I wasn't really surprised by her reaction in the least, but I figured telling her about G now would be better in the long run. She would have found out sooner or later. "I know what I'm doing, Brooke. I'm not a child. I... I really think I... I like him a lot."
She exhaled, releasing her grip on me. She ran a hand through her hair, not speaking for awhile as if she were trying to find the right words to say. "Look, I know at this point you don't care what I have to say, but please, please, be careful. I want you to be happy and if he can do that for you, awesome. Be with him, but don't be blind, okay?"
"I won't, Brooke. It's literally the same as before, just with a title. Relax," I laughed, climbing out of the car. "I'm being careful."
"Whatever you say," she muttered under her breath, popping the trunk. I decided to just ignore her comment, walking to the back of the car instead.
After I grabbed my belongings, we made our way up to the apartment.
"How long?" she asked as we sat down on the couch.
"Hmm?" I mumbled, glancing at her, preoccupied by the television playing some random show in the background.
"How long have you been actually dating?" she rephrased.
"Oh. Like a day," I responded, laughing a bit at how much I sounded like a teenager.
"Wow, I'm surprised you told me so soon," she spoke.
I shrugged, idly flipping through the channels. I really wasn't in the mood to be discussing any of this with her at that point in time. "You probably would have found out, anyways. And it's not like it's really all that surprising."
"I guess."
After a few moments of awkward silence, I changed the subject. "I'm starving. What do we have to eat around here?"
"We could go out, if you want?" she suggested.
"Yeah, sure," I smiled.
She smiled back, pulling out her phone. "Any suggestions?"
"I'm not picky. Maybe see if-" I paused, feeling my phone vibrate with a text.
I looked down at the screen, seeing a message from Ben.
You still coming out tonight? I hope you didn't forget and made it back to LA in time!
"Fuck," I muttered, rubbing a hand across my face.
"G?" she questioned, eyeing me.
I rolled my eyes. Of course she would assume that. "No, it's Ben. I'm supposed to go to a party tonight with him and a bunch of others and I completely forgot about it."
"Well, you better get ready then," she spoke, setting her phone down on the coffee table.
"But we were going to go out for dinner-"
She cut me off. "Don't worry about it. We can go another time."
"Are you sure? I can say I'm sick or something..."
"You're being ridiculous," she chuckled. "Go."
She nudged me, and I got up a moment later, heading to my room to do my makeup and get dressed. After I finished, I quickly sent Ben a text telling him I'd see him soon.
"I promise we'll have a night where we can just hang out, okay?" I hugged her.
She laughed a bit. "I know, you've got a busy life. Don't worry about it. Go have some fun!"
I gave her one last squeeze before releasing her, jokingly blowing her a kiss before heading out to my car.
