Summary: Leon & Claire hang out after months of not seeing each other. Chinese food, TV and their silly talks, they have a great time.
Status of their relationship in this one shot: Friends with clear romantic feelings for one another.
Letting out a loud laugh, Claire smiled brightly at Leon's words - they were quick to crack her up. He smirked at her giggle, finding it absolutely adorable.
They were sitting on his L shaped couch, covered up in cozy blankets with pints of Chinese food on their laps. This has been on helluva night; Surely it is one neither of them are bound to forget. The night is young though the moon has rised and the stars glimmer beautifully in the sky. Really, this evening has gone exceptionally well and overall, it has been great.
Claire's pint of Chinese food is halfway gone whereas Leon is basically done. Good food with good company - could it get any better? Claire used her chopsticks to take a bite of her coconut chicken, sighing softly as she chewed it. It was Leon's idea for them to meet up and hang, that's where the idea for getting some food came up and Claire refused to decline his so very kind offer! "It's so good!" She exclaimed, slurping up some Lo Mein.
He was just glad to see Claire happy. That's all she deserves - happiness. In a world like this, it's hard to come by true joyousness but Leon will always be here to provide that feeling to Claire. "I agree, it is. My sweet and sour chicken is great." Leon stated, eating his final piece of food before setting the takeout container on the table beside the couch they're both resting on. "Tell me about it." Claire smiled and looked up at him.
For the last two hours or so, they've simply been sitting here, talking and laughing whilst eating some delicious takeout food. It's been a good night. Leon is glad he asked Claire to hangout, they clearly needed this. They are often times off at work, saving the world and what not. It's a bit funny to think about in his head but yeah, that's practically what they're doing. Even so, making time for one another is needed for their... Friendship.
"How about more wine?" Leon asked Claire, pouring some more of the tangy sweetness into a glass. Claire snorted and reached her hand out, taking the fine china from his hand. "You're killing me, Kennedy." She smiled and sipped the wine. She's a bit tipsy but still capable enough of straight thinking, luckily. Leon is too though for him, he's a heavier weight. It takes a lot more than a few glasses to get him unleased.
Claire put her glass back down and gandered over at Leon. The man makes her heart race, admittedly. It's always been clear to literally everyone but the two of them that they have a thing for one another. Chris has caught Claire in La La Land thinking about Leon whereas his coworkers, Leon's, have heard non-stop about Claire and how epic of a girl she is.
It is safe to say: They most definitely like each other, and that's more than friends!
"I'm really glad you came out tonight, I missed you, Claire." He said softly. He means it. He thinks about Claire often and especially when he's out and about at work. She has her own personal threshold in his mind. Claire leered and nodded, "Missed you too, rookie. We need time like this together more often, don't you agree?" "Oh, I agree." He really, really does.
Being with Claire is as if he is on top of the world. He can do anything with her by his side. Even though they've known one another less than a decade, their bond will never disappear and it's all thanks to the Raccoon City incident. Claire & Sherry are damn near the only good things that came out of that treacherous event. Leon is grateful for her, and vice versa.
Claire cleared her throat before speaking up to Leon, her tone friendly. "You have a nice flat, by the way. I forgot to say that." "Thanks, I only cleaned it up since you were visiting today." He said with brutal honesty, earning a sweet and cheerful giggle out of Claire. "You're cute." She blushed and ate some more noodles, trying to seem relaxed and totally not nervous.
Hearing Claire call him cute made him flush. Joke or not, it warmed his heart. "Says you." Leon snickered as he leaned over, grabbing the TV remote and pausing the show, enjoying the seeming silence. Claire giggled and finished off her wine. "I'm done with drinking for the night." She giggled and stretched slightly, still leaving room for Leon.
"When do you have to be home?" "Definitely here soon, it's almost," She glanced over at the wall clock, "Almost 8:00 so I should get home soon." "Ok then." Leon nodded, understanding completely. They both work tomorrow but both managed to fit one another into their schedule, even if it was just for threeish hours. "I really love being around you." Leon chortled out, looking into her eyes before quickly looking away, somehow managing to contain himself.
"I do too. It's very refreshing, you know? To be around someone so genuine." That meant a lot to Leon. He tried. He wants to be the best version of himself. Leon has suffered, a lot, so all he can do now is try to face and cope with his pain - it's all he really can do. Claire helps, even if it isn't intentional. She's just such a loving, caring and honest person; Truly an Angel from above.
Claire can tell Leon is flustered. He is so cute when he is. Claire appreciates that Leon can indeed be himself around her. "Oh, by the way," Claire sat up and fixed her positioning on the couch. If Leon were a dog, his ears would've perked up because anytime Claire talks, his attention is gathered. "Go on." He stated. "I'm free next Thursday, how does dinner sound?" Claire asked him.
What an amazing question. It is one Leon will answer with zero hesitation. "Absolutely. Sounds great." Leon smiled and gave her a nod. This made Claire happy, especially the fact he wasted no time with his answer. "Awesome." She said a bit awkwardly, feeling shy and timid but Leon just has that affect on her.
Glancing out the window, Leon breathed in a sharp breath. This night is a dream come true. It's simply... Impeccable. "Well Leon, I better call it quits. If you keep me any longer, I'll be raiding your liquor cabinet." Her words were humorous and most likely a bit dramatic. Leon chuckled and stood up after she did. They stood there for a moment and just looked at each other. The look of love - it is so powerful.
"Come here." Claire giggled out and swiftly moved her arms around his neck, hugging him lovingly. Leon's arms swathed around her tiny yet well built waist as they embraced each other. This is how it should be. Leon wishes he could hug her daily, now that would be heaven on Earth. "I'll see you around, okay?" Leon rubbed the back of her head as they hugged. "Of course." She nodded.
Truthfully, Claire doesn't want to leave. Hell, if she could, she'd be here all night but alas, that isn't the case. Not this time. Leon opened his front door and stepped back, giving Claire space. She stood up on her tippy toes and pressed a kind gestured kiss onto Leon's cheek. "Farewell Leon." Claire giggled and stepped out of his house. Her way of saying goodbye made him chuckle. "Bye Claire."
Little did either of them know, their goodbyes would be short lived.
