JJ pov

No fucking way, dude.

"Chandler Groff's son?! That doesn't make any fucking sense 'cause Larissa's baby, everyone knows that baby drowned with her, dad!", I spat in disbelief.

"Nah, that baby... it was you, JJ. When I was working the grounds for the Genrettes, I got to know yer mom, Larissa. She was a good person and very beautiful. Your father, however, he was a son of a bitch. They were always arguing. Things weren't right between them but, I was just the groundsman and I just wanted to help. I'd help your mother out with you when I could. I thought your pops had it out for me but then late one night, he paid me a very unexpected visit. He told me she wasn't doing well and I started taking care of you after that. The next day, I heard the most shocking news of my life; your mother had died in an accident. Maybe he thought he'd get some inheritance if they thought you died too, I dunno. Only thing I did know was that, after a while, I didn't want him up come back. I knew I was wrong, letting that old man believe that his grandson was dead. Hell, it messed me up. I should've been a better father, I know that.", my father confessed.

"So, you're telling me that my real mom, she's dead?", I asked him for clarification.

"Yeah, son, that's what they say. Drowned in a boating accident...I...I don't know.", he added.

"So, I'm the son of some kook?", I asked in disappointment.

"No, not the way you was raised, boy. You're a Genrette and a Groff.", Luke continued.

"You're lying. You're making up some random bullshit story and I ain't falling for it!", I scoffed in annoyance.

Me, a kook? How much weed did this man smoke?

"Look, I know it's a shock.", he spoke.

"No, it's a damn lie, Dad! There's just something in it for you, that's what's going on. How pathetic can you be? Some inheritance bullshit? You're just using me yet again, aren't you?", I asked, gritting my teeth as I grabbed him angrily by the collar of his shirt.

I left quickly, grabbing my chest before he could tell me more lies. I went back to Poguelandia, looking for (Y/n), and calamity.

(Y/n) pov

Looking up from the garden, I gasped in disbelief as I saw my husband walking towards the shop.

"JJ Maybank, where have you been? We were worried about you!", I exclaimed with my hands on my hips.

"It's a long story, babe. Where are the others?", he asked bluntly.

Something's wrong, I can see it on him. He won't say it directly but his body language says that something's up.

"They're almost here. Why? Something happened, didn't it?", I asked him with concern.

"No, nothing happened, cupcake.", he answered.

"Nah, don't be lying to me, boy wonder. It's written all over you. I could see it when you walked over.", I stated firmly.

"Doesn't matter, it's just my dad.", he replied.

"Fuck, he's back?", I asked in surprise as we walked through the garden.
