PAST
"Are you mad, Penelope?" Sophie yelled angrily. Penelope was taken aback by her sister's sudden outburst, tears filling her eyes as she faced Sophie's glare. She glanced at the mess she had created, the spilled orange juice soaking through the carefully constructed project.
"I... I'm... sorry..." she stammered, her voice trembling.
"Sorry?" Sophie scoffed, her tone dripping with disdain.
Penelope looked up at her sister, who was fuming with anger. "What am I supposed to tell Mrs. Lopez? She'll eat me alive," Sophie groaned in frustration. "I spent my whole afternoon preparing this project," she muttered under her breath.
"I am really sorry. I'll help you make it again," Penelope offered, her voice pleading.
"Leave it," Sophie snapped. "You're actually useless, just like everyone says." With those cutting words, Sophie turned and stormed off. Penelope was stunned by her sister's cruelty. Of all the people in the world, she never expected her twin to say something so hurtful. A lone tear rolled down her cheek, which she quickly wiped away.
Needing to clear her mind and put some distance between herself and Sophie, Penelope decided to take a walk around the neighborhood. She knew Sophie didn't truly mean to hurt her, but the words still stung. Grabbing her phone, she walked out of the house and headed toward the nearby park.
Sitting on a bench in the corner, Penelope watched the children playing happily. She missed those days when she and Sophie used to play together without a care in the world. Now, Sophie was the popular girl at school, always surrounded by friends, while Penelope felt like a nobody.
She heaved a sigh, longing for the simplicity of their childhood. She wished she could turn back time to when they were kids, blissfully unaware of the worries and challenges the future would bring.
She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't realize someone had sat beside her.
"Penelope," Sean called her name softly, bringing her back to reality. She blinked at him innocently, surprised to see him there.
Sean had been driving back from Ethan's house when he spotted her sitting alone in the park. He couldn't just leave her there looking so forlorn, so he decided to keep her company.
"What happened? You look sad," he asked gently.
"It's nothing. I just had a fight with my sister," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
He chuckled, and seeing his laughter, a small smile tugged at Penelope's lips. She couldn't help but think how handsome he looked when he smiled.
"That's it?" he said with a playful tone. "Serena and I fight like cats and dogs, but she never gets emotional."
Hearing his words, Penelope giggled. "Really?" she asked, and he nodded.
Her sad mood began to lift, replaced by the warmth of Sean's presence. Penelope loved spending time with him; his company always made her feel better.
"You are too good for these world " Sean said all of sudden making her gasp in shock. Her eyes blinked innocently not understanding what he exactly means? He chuckled at her expression wondering she is the most innocent souls he ever encountered in his life.
She is too innocent and sweet for these world. He all of sudden had a desire to protect her innocence from these evil world. But the question is who will protect her from him?
Suddenly, a loud clap of thunder echoed through the park, making her jump. She instinctively scooted closer to Sean in fear, clutching his hand nervously.
