PENELOPE
Lately... I have been thinking too much.
Thinking until my mind feels heavy, until every thought twists into another question I don't have answers to.
It's been a week since the new year began.
Seven days.
And I have done nothing... except drown in thoughts about a future I'm not even sure I want.
A future with him.
Sean.
Even his name feels like a storm now-unpredictable, suffocating, impossible to escape.
That man has turned my life into something I no longer recognize. Chaos wrapped in silence. Confusion dressed as normalcy.
I still can't understand it.
One moment, he was ready to marry my sister...
And now-
Now he looks at me like I am the only thing that matters.
Like he never stopped.
Like he never left.
Sometimes... I let myself believe it.
Sometimes I think-maybe it was all a misunderstanding. Maybe the truth is not what I saw... but what I was made to believe.
But then-
My eyes betray me.
Because I remember.
And no matter how much I want to deny it, what I saw that day... felt real.
Sophie's words echo in my mind like a stubborn whisper I can't silence.
"Ask him."
And tonight-
I will.
I have to.
Because I cannot keep living like this-stuck between what was, what is, and what might never be.
I can't keep pretending that his warmth doesn't affect me one moment... and his distance doesn't destroy me the next.
I need the truth.
Even if it breaks me again.
Because I can't build a future on confusion.
I need closure.
Even if I choose to walk away... I need to understand where we fell apart.
Because without facing our past-
There is no future.
Only a loop of pain I refuse to live in.
There was a time when I loved him so fiercely... so blindly... that I would have burned the world for him.
But I was young then.
Naive.
Now?
Now I know love isn't enough.
And even though I hate to admit it-
A part of me still feels something for him.
Something stubborn.
Something dangerous.
But this time... I won't let it control me.
No more impulsive choices.
No more blind trust.
Because I am not that girl anymore.
I looked around the garden.
The tulips swayed gently in the afternoon breeze, their soft colors glowing under the harsh sunlight. They were exactly how I had once imagined them-delicate, perfect... almost unreal.
