Misty's POV

"Goodnight, Brock!"

"Goodnight, Ash."

"Goodnight Pikachu!"

"Pika!"

"Goodnight Misty!"

"Goodnight, Ash!" I yawned loudly, settling into my sleeping bag a few feet away from the fire. Azurill nuzzled into my side and sighed. Smiling, I turned over onto my side.

It had been almost five years since I parted Ash at the end of his Johto journey. He came back to Pallet Town from his Kalos journey about a week ago. Yesterday around lunchtime he asked Brock and I to accompany him on his new journey, in which he plans to go to all of the regions in his journey's order. Of course we said yes. That night, we packed our things.

Tonight was our first night back together. I'd been wanting to tell Ash how I felt ever since his return, but I was too nervous every time that I tried. I waited until the right moment. Sitting up, I made sure that everyone was asleep, including the Pokémon. All clear. After a deep breath, I began to sing my song.

I was pretty choked up by now. I know it's weird because it's my own song, but my heart and all of my emotions are spilled into it every time I sing it. Here I was, sitting on top of my sleeping bag, tears falling onto its silky, sleek surface.

When I heard someone come out of their sleeping bag, I hurried to get back into mine. Right then, I was pulled into a hug. "Don't cry, Misty." they whispered, wiping away my tears with a gloved hand. I instantly knew it was Ash. He sounded like he was holding back tears. "I love you too." he smiled, now wiping away his own tears. I squeaked when he pulled me to his chest in a strong embrace. He chuckled and stroked my hair. I could feel his teardrops plop onto my hands, which were held to his chest. That made me want to cry even more.

I heard a long, soft rustling noise. Pikachu had woken up and pulled Ash's sleeping back over... right up close next to mine. Azurill had heard all of the commotion and woken up as well. "That songs sounds slightly familiar, Mist. I feel as though I've heard it before..." Ash stated, pulling away and holding my hand.

"Then it might just be." I giggled, laying down in sync with him. "Goodnight, Ash." Azurill and Pikachu slept between us.

Ash smiled, closing his eyes. "Goodnight, Mist." he yawned as we fell asleep, holding hands.
