'BEN!' You yelled, hands grasping desperately at the air in front of you where the cliff's edge had just been.

Then -- realizing that Riley was in fact behind you -- you clamped a hand over your mouth.

'Shit.' You cursed, quietly.

'Hey, if you want me to pretend I never heard how much emotion was in that scream I can.' Riley said, momentarily putting his own emotions aside, when he saw your distressed expression. 'I'll even cover my ears and sing loudly.'

'No, that's not the problem,' You said, sinking to the ground. 'I don't care that you heard me yell, it's the reason why...

'Okay,' Riley said, moving closer and touching your shoulder in an awkward (but comforting) way. 'What's the reason?'

'We just lost Ben. The man I've been in love with for years, and I never told him.'

Riley's eyebrows rose slightly at this, but he said nothing, as he'd suddenly been distracted by something next to you.

(That 'something' in question happened to be Ben, who been slowly climbing up the cliff. Apparently he hadn't fallen very far at all.)

'Am I hearing things right, (Y/N)?' Ben asked, once he'd reached the top and pulled himself up over the lip of the cliff. 'Did you just admit you loved me?'

'Ben?'

(This time the words left your mouth in an angry and confused whisper.)

'Yeah, it's me.'

However this did not get the elated reaction he was (probably) expecting -- instead, you made your way over to him and kicked him in the shin.

'Ow! What was that for?'

'Never ever do that to me again!' You shouted. 'Do you hear me, Benjamin Franklin Gates?'

'(Y/n), it's an occupational hazard. You can't expect to be a treasure protector and not fall off things. You knew that when you signed on.' Ben teased. 'Although, apparently, that didn't stop you from falling for me.'

'Oh, do shut up.'

However, there was a smile on your face as you said this. You really couldn't stay mad at him for long.

(In fact, had he not been on the ground, you might have even kissed him.-- dirt be damned, or whatever.)

'Uh, I hate to break up your... whatever the hell this is..' Riley said, waving his hands at the pair of you. 'But I don't know how long this cliff edge will be stable for. We should move.'

So, you reached down and helped Ben up. Ben then laced his fingers tightly with yours, and you began to lead him (slowly) after Riley.

(Sure, the confession may have been accidental, but at least now you were together, and that was all that mattered.)

[Author's Note]

The last sentence feels like it reads weird, but oh well.

(Is it a little embarrassing that I wrote something for Ben before Riley? Yes, but I did it anyway. I do what I want!)
