Dusk was approaching quickly, after the occurrence in the attic. Ji, Ace, and I. All three of us agreed to depart the next morning, and that we would inform the Training Camp for Young Adventurers first thing, after eating breakfast and such.
"If all else fails, we'll abscond from the camp and wreck havoc along the way. It'd be a great chance to test out my new skills." I declared happily.
Ace's eyes dilated with fear. "A-Ame! I don't think I'd be able to cover you for that one... What if somebody gets hurt?!"
"That's a shame." I laughed.
"Let's hurry along now. We have a schedule to follow." Ji stated, running over to the loft dispatch on all fours. She pointed to the gateway with one of her paws.
Ace scrambled over to where Ji was, and opened the door. She hopped down with almost no effort, while Ace was taking his sweet time climbing down the ladder. I trailed, and got off after him. Goodbye and farewell, freaking dusty storage room! I was becoming sick from all the germs!
...
When dawn struck, we woke up quite early for a head start on our adventure. Ann made bacon and eggs for us, as Ace and I gobbled it down rapidly. As usual, it was tasty; Ann really knew how to cook. If only I possessed such an ability, it'd come in handy! All we said to the merchant was that we wouldn't need food from her for a long while, and luckily, she didn't bother prying into it any further. Ann wasn't that nosy of a person.
Details of the visit to the training area spared, we left the small village of Ruben; our quest officially began. The more I thought about it, the more curious I got about Ara and Add. I blamed Ace for spouting so much about them.
I had to apologize to my past self, for breaking my promise about no longer caring. I did care now, and it's all because of stupid Ace. Hmph.
...
The next town over, Elder, wasn't very far away. It was actually a lot closer than I thought. When we entered the hamlet, a long row of soldiers were marching by, but I wasn't too sure why. Patrolling? Orders from the castle? Compared to Ruben, this place was large and prosperous, with merchants all around. Ann was the only licensed shop-owner back home.
"Whoa! Look, Ame! Elder is HUGE!" Ace exclaimed, pointing all around at our surroundings. "We should've traveled more often!" he chuckled.
"Yeah, you're right, I have to admit." Even I was impressed, which was difficult.
"Let's go, there's lots to do, Ame!" he smiled.
I nudged his gut. "You never know who's watching. Don't be too cheerful out here in public. Remember, you still have to amend the problem if I do anything, in which I probably will, eventually." I whispered.
"Right, sorry, Ame." Ace forced a frown, while I compelled a guiltless smile, for our facades.
Ji was invisible the entire time, since people would definitely ask if there was a fluffy white fox following us around.
...
We were ambling aimlessly, when suddenly, Ace bumped into someone. He was tall, had lavender-ish hair, kept nicely and neatly done, and glimmering purple eyes. He wore a dark purple full-body suit, a gem adorning his chest. Six of these petite, weird-looking diamonds were behind him, floating in mid air. They weren't exactly diamond-shaped, but close enough.
Ace took a step back. "Sorry."
When my brother was determined to fulfill my desires, he could act pretty calm and rude. Although every single time it happened, he'd always apologize repeatedly when we were in private, as if whoever was affected would actually hear his cries.
I couldn't stress this out enough: he was far too kindhearted. On the bright side, Ace learned from my general behaviour, and I learned from his natural demeanor. In public, our dispositions were swapped.
I made a physical comparison to Ace and the male. Both of them looked actually... similar, somehow. It was kind-of creeping me out.
The man averted his gaze to the two of us. He stared at Ace, then at me, then at Ace again for a long duration before responding.
