...

In a calm and orderly fashion, I approached the figure, unsheathing my spear, should there be hazards imposed. But, I had realized once I got near that the person was harmless. It was a woman behind bars, looking similar to me. Sure, her hairstyle was worn in a different manner, and her attire was different, along with her eye colour (which was orange), but even so, she was similar.

She seemed quite frail, and was sitting down, on her knees, either asleep or unconscious. I know I desired to see Ace no matter what, but this appeared to be more dire and important.

"Miss?" I calmly called out.

Well, there was always the possibility that she was dead, but I didn't want to believe it. That would be terrible, without a doubt. Plus, wouldn't she have fallen over already, if that was the case? I didn't excel in biology, so I wasn't quite sure.

In between two of the poles of the cell, near the center, there was a small machine. I reached out to hover my hand across it, as a screen lit up, along with numerical keys labelled from zero to nine. A passcode was required to open the gate of the prison.

Remembering about the card from earlier, I removed it from my pocket, and attempted to press it against the illuminated screen. A positive note sounded, and the door soon unlocked. Huh, then what was the number pad for, I wonder?

Nevermind that. I entered the confinement, and lightly poked the female's arm, waiting for a response. I really did hope that she hadn't passed away while being trapped.

"Nnnh..." she slightly twitched, her eyelids ascending.

What a relief. So she was alive, after all. "Miss?"

She averted her gaze over to me. "O-Oh, um, hello there..."

Just like Add, she seemed far too young to be my mother, but I suppose she was. That was the only plausible explanation.

"Okay, I'm going to try to be as straightforward with this as I can. Your husband... no, uh, lover, is Add, right?"

A light blush tinted her cheeks, as she nodded.

"So you're Ara. Alright. So, my name is Amelia Haan, and I'm your daughter. Nice to meet you, Mom." I politely bowed. "That also explains why my appearance resembles you."

"E-EH?! D-Daughter? A-Ah, um..!" Ara nervously stammered.

"Uh-huh."

"W-Well, that is a very pretty name. Now that I think about it, I guess I've always wanted to name my child 'Amelia'... I suppose I already have, since you're here." she smiled.

She was just as innocent as Ace was. Which was odd, since Ace wasn't actually her legitimate son.

Ji soon showcased herself. "Eun, can you hear me?" she queried.

A voice, my assumption was that it was Eun's, replied. "Yes. Ji, is that you?"

The fox nodded. "That is correct."

"E-Eun? What is your relationship to Ji...?" Ara curiously asked.

"An ally from millenniums ago."

"Oh."

"Ji! Couldn't you have led me to this prison instead of letting me throw out random guesses and trust my luck?!" I huffed. "In fact, you could've led the entire team here!"

"Haha, you're right. But, I wanted to observe your growth, Amelia. Plus, I may have... forgotten along the way, you know?"

I facepalmed, leaving the matter aside for the time being. We had to escape with Ara and Eun, and reunite with the others, before the enemies found out.

"Can you stand and walk, Mother?" I had to inquire, because as I have mentioned before, it was as if she was very weak, physically.

She slowly stood, and attempted to take a step forward. "I think I might require help with walking, Amelia... I haven't been fed for several days now, so I don't have the energy and nutrients I need."

I gave her a brief nod, that did explain why she was so skinny, as if she was anorexic. I slid over to Ara, placing her arm on the back of my neck, so she could use me for support. We began to amble at our own pace, heading for the next exit.

"I am also in no condition to fight, because of my current state, and also due to the fact that they confiscated my spear..." she mentioned.

"No need to worry about that. We've got you covered."

This mother-daughter bonding kind of thing wasn't so bad. Based on my first impression of her, Mother was a wonderful person, and now, I wished that I could've met her sooner.
