[Amelia's Point of View]
...
This building was ginormous! In the lobby, there were already dozens of doors in sight, with many possibilities that lay within. But, there weren't many obstacles, or so it'd seem. The antechamber literally had nothing but these mysterious gateways leading to different localities. It seemed quite neat and clean, like one of those laboratories where scientists conducted experiments on various organisms; the places where you'd have to wear fancy masks and suits, I mean.
"Hm. Alright, I have a plan." Add boldly declared without a moment's hesitation. "Eve, look into your Nasod Database. Tell me if you can scan the area to see if there are any traps, and where the doors lead to, if possible."
Eve didn't seem too pleased with being ordered around. I could've sworn that I heard her mutter something along the lines of "You do not have permission to command the Queen of Nasods, you lowly peasant" under her breath. However, she still reluctantly obliged. The blue crystal orb on her forehead began to shine, I assumed that she was beginning to follow Father's request.
"Scan complete. Results: No harmful substances were found. We may proceed. Eve cannot decipher what lies inside the other rooms..." she reported.
Cursing to himself, Add nodded with a small scowl. "Good enough, at least we're aware that it's safe now. But we can't move as a team like this; with all of these windows of opportunities. It's going to take far too long if we venture through the areas together, given how large this place is. Tch! I've been here only once in the past, and at the time, I only stayed in this foyer. Damn it!"
Sigh, there he went again.
Soon, he recollected himself, shaking his head. "I would like to propose that we all split up, going in different directions. But, I'm not too sure that you should be left alone, Amelia. What if you suffer the same fate as Ace?" Add glanced at me.
I must have been hallucinating, because I thought I saw a tint of worry in his eyes. That wasn't like him, was it?
I stared at him with a stern look for several seconds. "Excuse me, I have Ji." I protested with a pout afterwards.
"Ji? Who's that?" Chung blinked in confusion.
"My concealed fox spirit. Now shush."
Add opened his mouth, but quickly closed it, rolling his eyes. "Women. Fine, do what you want."
"Father, I'm a girl."
"Tick, tock. Tick, tock." Eve quietly mentioned.
Ignoring my statement, Add continued on. "Nasod Queen over here and I would be able to sense danger if it were to occur using our technology and equipment. If it happens, one of us will be rushing to your aid. Understood? Excellent. Operation: Save Ara and Ace's Asses, commence."
Surprisingly, I had to admit that Father was a relatively skilled tactician and strategist, and his naming ability wasn't all that bad, either.
...
After we separated, I took the threshold on the far right, northeast. Ji trailed after me, but even after all this time, she remained unnoticeable. I suppose it was for safety measures, in case I was in trouble, to provide assistance?
The hallways in the next vicinity were tremendously lengthy, and even as I looked around, there was nothing worthy to acknowledge. In fact, it was rather bare, until I realized there was a card on the white, tiled floor.
I picked it up, turning it in all angles to see what it was for. There was a barcode on it, and nothing more. It was probably a key for something, but what? Slipping it away in a spare pocket, I decided to keep it for future use.
Sooner or later, another three doors were situated in front of me. Great. Trusting my luck, I chose the middle one, cautiously twisting and turning the doorknob before opening.
How fortunate! Inside, a person could be seen in the distance. I had hoped that it was Ace, since I didn't want anybody else to find him before I did. I-I mean... what?
