Ch. 35: Summer Adventure

One week later

~Bailey's POV~:

I hugged my family goodbye as I closed the trunk of my car. Ashton and I had decided that we would spend the rest of our summer together before I headed off to Augsburg college in the fall, I had finally chosen which college to attend, and before he went to college as well to get a teaching degree to become a elementary school music teacher.

Evan, Rachel, and Isabelle came to say goodbye as well. I have gotten a lot closer to my brother and his girlfriend since I found out the truth about everything, we all kind of clicked as if we've known each other longer than we have. I've also grown to really love my baby neice even though she is still fairly young, it's her cuteness that I enjoy so much.

I let myself cry as I waved goodbye from the passenger seat while Ashton backed out of the driveway of my home. My entire family waved back; the family that I never knew but really is, and the family that never was but I've always known. You can try and figure out which one is which.

Ashton drove along endless highways as we made our way north to spend the first part of our summer along the shores of Lake Superior, some of my favorite places in Minnesota are on the North Shore and it's always great to introduce them to someone who is unfamiliar with the beauty of it. There's Duluth, a bustling city full of candy and gift shops, the Aerial Lift bridge, Spirit Mountain, and the Maritime Visit Center. There's also Gooseberry State Park, Split Rock lighthouse, Tettegouche, and Grand Marais that all hold different discoveries that I know Ashton will love to see, he just seems like the Northern Minnesota type of guy.

Ashton also suggested we visit some of his home coutry and visit his family for the first time since we have been together. I'm nervous to meet them but Ashton just keeps reassuring me that they're nice and will love me as much as he loves me, that made me blush and smile uncontrollably before I told him that I loved him back.

Between the North Shore tour and Australia we decided to go on a road trip to see a bunch of the biggest attractions in the U.S. like; the Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago where Pete Wentz's bass is, The Grand Canyon, DisneyLand, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Mount Rushmore. The summer is long and nothing is really planned, we are just going to go with the flow and see where we end up, we won't even go to all of those attractions, some but not all, but we will have a great summer together before we have to settle down and take life seriously as we move into the next chapter of our lives, together. But for right now it's all about living in the moment.

We are just going to let the summer take us where it wants as we enjoy the last true summer of freedom, and hopefully it will last more than five seconds.

So here is to a new chapter of life, to moving on and finding your path with the one you love most, because these are the times you will look back on later in life with a smile on your face and tears in your eyes at the fond memories. Here is to our last freedoms, because we know we only get so many after this.

A/N: REALLY SHORT UPDATE I KNOW!!!!!

The reason this is so short is because I'm about to write the epilogue for this story, which will be the next update. I was going to make this the epilogue but I just can't end it on this, because I need a little more time with Bailey and Ashton before I'm done with them. This has been my first 5SOS fanfic and the third fanfic that I will complete so this is something that means a lot to me, despite it being bad haha. The plot is just everywhere, I know, but I really enjoyed writing this story and the cuteness that came with it.

I'll probably be crying in the author's note of the epilogue, which is next by the way...

So until the epilogue...
