Just like Before

Chapter 21

*HAYES POV*

I can't believe what just happened. I would never even think about judging Joseph, but  definitely shocked me. I can't imagine what Grace feels right now too. It's crazy, but we will all support him no matter what.

Right now we are walking around the town/neighborhood where the diner was.

"Your parents know right?" Sammy asked.

"Yeah I told them yesterday. It was overwhelming, but they were very supportive and nice, and now it feels great for you and my family to know. It's a huge weight lifted off my shoulders."

"I'm glad you're happy." Grace said and we all agreed. He smiled and I couldn't help but feel happy for him.

For the rest of the afternoon, we talked and hung out like normal, like nothing even happened.

*GRACE POV*

Today was, wow. I just got back to my parents beach house to visit them. Did I mention that they moved back to North Carolina in their own beach house? Well they did.

"So I found out some pretty interesting news today." I said. I had been talking with my mom and dad for about half an hour about school and everything.

"And that is?" My mom asked.

"Well, Joseph and I broke up because, he's gay." I said. They looked extremely shocked.

"Wow." My mom said.

"He's really happy though and I'm really happy for him." I smiled.

"This great. It must've been hard, but are you okay?" My dad asked me.

"Yeah I'm perfectly fine. I was confused and shocked at first, but I accept him for who he is and he's finally at peace."

"That's great honey." My mom smiled sweetly. I told them the whole story of when he told us and everything after that.

It was a pretty eventful day. And it just now hit me that I'm single. Joseph and I will be friends from now on and I'm so happy for that though.

Winter Break

Today is December 21st and Sammy and I are sitting around in our apartment.

A/n: idk what happens with an apartment when you go to college, so just pretend that Sammy and Grace live there during breaks and stuff.

Also the measurements or whatever for the school year will be weird so let's just pretend the timing is even. (for like semesters and stuff)

Our first semester is over, and I could not be happier. Also, I have to say I am proud of myself. I had pretty good grades, one C, one A, and the rest B's. These hard courses are kicking my ass and the year is only half over.

Hayes and I planned to hang out today, I got back here yesterday and he did the day before me. We've been working on getting close again, and I'm happy to say that we are best friends again. Joseph and I are becoming really close too.

A few minutes later my phone buzzed and I saw that Hayed had texted me.

Still wanna do something?

Yeah of course! Can we just hang at your place?

Yeah sure I'll pick you up soon.
