The house is filled with horny teenagers grinding up on each other. I don't think that qualifies as dancing if you ask me."Could you stop making that face like you are constipated?" Madison asks me screaming over the loud music.
I shrug and a full red solo cup is handed to me.
Should I drink it? One drink won't hurt me will it? I really think I need to let loose today considering that I have been struggling to keep up my straight A's.
"Why are you staring at that cup like its the most interesting think here?"
I jump at the new voice talking to me. I turn around and see Zach smirking at me.
"Shut up," I shove the cup in his chest and look around to find Madison.
"I thought you hated parties..." Zach says handing someone my cup.
"Believe me I do. Madison came to my house and I had no choice."
"Well you look beautiful tonight."
"Thanks." I give him a small smile.
Zach starts to ramble to me about who knows what. I just zone him out and listen to the music. My favorite song Drag Me Down by One Direction comes on. It would be a crime if I didn't dance to this song.
"Hey you want to dance?" I ask Zach completely cutting him off. He stares at me for a moment but then snaps out of it.
"Yeah sure." I instantly grab his hand and lead him to the dance floor.
I start to hop up and down and mouth the words. I can't sing so I don't want anyone to hear me.
"These people really need to learn the meaning of dancing." Zach whispers in my ear. I can't help but giggle.
"I think they know what it is, they just choose to do other, disturbing things." I whispering in his ear so he can hear me.
Zach continues laughing and finally we go silent and just dance. I jump around and grab Zach so he can let loose he is so tense.
"ZACHY- BABY!" A screeching voice screams loudly. I cover my ears and Zach's face goes to pure shock.
He turns around and looks at the girl standing behind him looking at him like he is a saint.
"Hey Mindy." Zach says tiredly. Apparently he doesn't want to be near her.
Mindy is wearing a skin tight dress that stops right under her butt with five inch heels. To top it all off, she has on hoop earrings that I can put my fist in if I wanted. For a little more shine, she put glitter on top of her pounds of makeup. I mentally gagged at how she looks right now.
"Zachy who is your friend?" She try's to whisper to him but I can clearly hear. She is pretty much throwing her body on him.
"This is of my best friends Taylor." Zach says looking at me.
"Well she's pretty. Do I need to worry?"
"Mindy why would you have to worry?" Zach asks truly confused.
"Because I am your girlfriend silly goose!" She screeches making me want to cover my ears.
"You don't need to worry, we are just friends." I say butting in.
"Mindy, how many times do I have to tell you? We are not dating."
"Then why did you tell me you love me?" She asks kissing his neck. I want to gag right now.
"I never told you that! I said you had a lovely personality!" He screams at Mindy.
"That means the same thing!" She screeches and I roll my eyes.
I walk away to leave them to solve their own problems. I walk to the kitchen and grab a Coca-Cola. I rest my head on the wall and pull out my phone.
I play Slender Man for a couple minutes until I hear someone clear their throat behind me.
I turn around and see the one and only Ryder Carson in front of me.
"Hello." He says using a cheeky grin.
"Hi."
"So, you enjoying the party?" He is trying to have small talk with me. The question is, why?
"I guess. Besides the terrible dancing and drinking, its good. The music choice is good."
"Why are you just standing here playing Slender instead of dancing?"
"I was dancing. Then this annoying girl came and stole my partner and they started arguing. So I left them and decided just to chill and play a game that I can play to distract me."
Ryder nods his head and looks around the room. Why is he here talking to me? I don't get it. He should be dancing with one of the girls dressed up like Mindy like he always does at parties. I have seen him.
"Why are you thinking about so hard?" Ryder asks snapping me out of my thoughts.
"What do you mean?"
"When you think too hard, you look in the distance and stare at nothing."
"Oh, didn't notice that. Well I was wondering why you are here talking to me instead of dancing with some other girls. I bet they would love to get the attention by you." I say taking a sip of my drink.
"Are you not part of that clan of girls?" Ryder smirks.
"I'd rather have the worst hangover possible."
"That hurts Hartman." He puts his hand to his chest to mock hurt. "Besides, don't you have a line of boys just waiting for you to ask them for a dance?"
I involuntarily snort so loud Ryder jumps back an looks at me like I told him I am his long lost sister.
"Sorry," I say giggling. "I have to give it to you Carson, that was a good one." I say still laughing.
"What are you talking about?"
"Boys, wanting to dance with me," I point to myself. "Thats classic."
"So what's your deal, are you a dark and mysterious girl and when she takes off her glasses you realize she was beautiful the whole time?"
"I don't wear glasses." I say flatly with no emotion.
"Then your half way there." He smirks at me and I erupt into a fit of giggles.
"You know we just quoted Pitch Perfect?" I say through my giggles.
"I was hoping you would catch on." Ryder says with a full, genuine smile.
"You should smile more often. It doesn't make you seem so scary." I say finishing off my coke. "You would have more friends."
"I don't make friends."
"Friends are people you talk to more than once a day. Friends are people who you can talk to freely and express your true self. Friends are people who will help you through anything. All you have to do is ask."
"Are we friends?"
