Chapter 52

***Michaela's POV***

I lay on my bed thinking about the emotional day I've had today. First I basically told my mom Austin's biggest secret and then Alex decides to be Romeo and declare himself to me after kissing me.
this is certainly an eventful day that I wont seem to forget.

My mind is racing with all sorts of thoughts, mainly disappointment in myself. I never knew I could mess so many things up in such a short amount of time.

my mind wanders off to another world and for a minute I wish I could stay in that world where my family is complete and my feelings are clear.

my phone goes off and I see I have a message from Austin.

I force myself to ignore it, I don't think its the best idea for me to talk to him right now. I won't be able to stop myself from apologizing over and over for fucking up.

*the next day*

my alarm goes off and I don't think I've ever been so desperate to ditch school. I don't think I can pretend like everything is okay.

I force myself out of bed and head to the bathroom to get ready. As I stare at myself it's pretty obvious that I was crying.

I put some makeup to appear that i'm alive and I check my phone.

*6 unread messages*

they are all from Austin

"hows my girl."

"are you okay?"

"if you fell asleep I wanna wish you a goodnight beautiful."

"good morning? are u there?"

"should I pick you up for school or are you mad?"

"wtf Michaela why aren't you answering?"

once again I ignore the texts on my phone and focus on appearing like I actually had a good night's sleep.

Once I look "prepared" for school I grab my bag and walk downstairs. I walk by my mom's room and notice that she is still sleeping. I smile, happy that she finally got a day to rest. I gently close her door to avoid waking her and grab my keys.

I hope Austin isn't waiting for me outside.

I open the door and i let out a sigh of relief. no one is there thank God!

I get in my car and drive the opposite way. there's no way I am going to go to school today.

Austin's POV

"what the fuck bro! I went to her house and her car wasn't there and now i'm at school and she's still not here, what's her problem?"

"is there any reason she should be upset with you?" Robert asks

"i haven't fucking done anything, first she ignores my texts and now she appears to be ditching, that's not like her."

"dude maybe she has an explanation don't get all drama queen on us." Alex laughs

the first bell rings and no sign of Michaela

I wait a bit longer hoping she's just running late but it doesn't seem that way.

"dude lets just go to class." Alex says as he begins walking away

I decide to follow him.

I step into chemistry class still hoping that I will see her sitting in the front row just like any other day but all I see is an empty desk.

I take the empty seat in the front and send her one last text before putting away my phone.

'the least you could do is let me know where you are.'

**MIchaela's POV**

wow! who knew that Austin would turn out to be the caring yet slightly overdramatic boyfriend.

I sit alone at the library hoping to get my mind off everything. I turn my phone off and look for a book to get my mind off things. As I browse I finally decide on AFTER.

I begin reading and I am instantly hooked. Wow Hardin and Tessa have such a weird relationship.

As the hours go by I don't set the book down once. I find myself being in love yet hating Hardin Scott. I can't help but feel a little like Tessa, trapped in between Austin and Alex the way she's trapped between Hardin and Zed.

When I finally reach the last chapter I am a rollercoaster of emotions and I find myself checking out all 4 books.

it's been a pretty long time, School is probably out already. I grab my phone from my backpack and turn it on.

Just as I suspected I had some messages from Austin, a few from Danielle and one from Alex.

I decide to open the one from Alex

'we need to talk about us.'

it obviously was not the best choice to read his message first.

I decide to read Austin's

'Can you please tell me where you are i'm getting worried.'

I decide just answer him before he makes my phone explode.

'i'm at the library downtown.'

not too long afterwards he responds

'stay there, i'm on my way.'
