After weeks of being cooped up in the dark home, Y/N and the others were more than relieved to be outside. With the added security provided by Tonks, Moody, Bill, and a dog-shaped Sirius, the group was able to navigate King's Cross easily.
Y/N stood with her eyes shut and face pointed up at one of the many skylights that enclosed the station. She willed her mind to go quiet as she soaked in the warmth provided by the sun.
Close by, George watched her with a gentle smile, glad to see that she was able to find some semblance of peace after yet another rough night. Seeing as Harry managed to finally get a full-night's worth of sleep, likely because he, Ron, and Hermione had all crammed themselves into one room, Y/N had crept into the twins' room and made herself comfortable in George's arms. Despite the circumstances, George was more than happy to wake beside her that morning.
"George."
D/N walked over to the boy, keeping his eyes locked on his daughter. He placed a firm hand on George's shoulder before nodding at Y/N.
"Keep an eye on her for us," he said. "And write, like you did in your fourth year."
George nodded at the memory of their fourth year, when Y/N and Hermione had been petrified by the basilisk.
"I will," George assured, both men keeping an unwavering eye on Y/N.
"I know," D/N said. He glanced over at George and gave his shoulder a brief squeeze before walking over to Y/N. "Y/N, let's go. Padfoot's just about done."
She nodded and looked back at George, who instantly walked over to her. He held his hand out for her to take then dutifully followed her towards the platform between 9 and 10.
As they neared the area, they were joined by Harry, Moody, and a large black dog. The dog bumped briefly into Y/N, causing her to smile, then returned to Moody's side.
In pairs of two, they all ran through the brick wall between the platforms, moving quickly to avoid being noticed by any of the surrounding muggles. As always, Fred and George ran in together, taking the lead so that they could be on the other side by the time the others came through. Following them was Y/N and her father — her mom stayed back for an early shift at work.
After bidding their families and friends bye, the students all turned to file onto the train together. They made it all but five feet before a tall blur of red fabric rammed into Y/N's side, causing George to rush to pull her back in a panic.
"Y/N! Are you alright?!" Lee asked in a borderline shout. He gripped onto her shoulders tightly, brows furrowed and eyes narrowed as he scanned over her entire body. "We heard-"
"Y/N!" another voice exclaimed. Angelina forcefully pushed Lee aside with her shoulder, eyes wide as she now grabbed onto her friend. "We heard about what happened. Did the-"
"Oh my god!" Alicia shouted, having located her friends easily by their raised voices. She practically sprinted towards them and ripped Y/N out of Angelina's hands to get a good look at Y/N herself. "I'll kill them! Were you hurt?!"
George slapped a hand over his forehead, highly conscious of the Order's curious eyes on their group. He quickly wrapped his hands around Y/N's waist and pulled her into him, causing her back to bump into his chest.
"I'm alright, really," Y/N assured her friends with a small laugh. She had missed their presence over the summer, especially after she was forced to limit contact after arriving at Grimmauld Place. "We can talk more on the train."
She and the twins bid their parents bye one more time before letting their friends quickly drag them towards the train. D/N watched in mild amusement as Y/N struggled to keep up with an overexcited Lee Jordan.
