"So what are we going to do?"

Wriothesley had left the infirmary not too long after having that talk with you. You stayed behind with Sigewinne, still feeling conflicted about his earlier words. Though you wanted to be mad at him, you knew you couldn't stay that way forever.

"I don't know." Sigewinne said, her ears drooping a bit. "Wriothesley hasn't exactly... thought of anything. Him coming here to talk with you was already risky enough."

"Let me get this straight." You said, holding a hand up. "She monitors everything he does, everywhere he goes, and pretty much has all the Gardes here wrapped around her finger. And then to wrap all that in a pretty little bow, he's sleeping with her to satisfy her needs."

"Yeah..." Sigewinne nodded, watching your reaction. "B-But I'm sure it's one hundred percent one-sided. I doubt he wants to do anything with her..."

"Whenever we figure this out, I'll kill him." You snarled, your muscles tightening. "There is no way you expect me to be all peachy about him basically cheating on me."

"Well, let's worry about that later..." She suggested, "For now, we should focus on trying to remove all the explosives without her knowing or accidentally triggering them."

You sighed, knowing she was right. Despite the fact that you were walking around a literal ticking time bomb, Chronie was the bigger picture. You thought of maybe attacking her or trying to take her down yourself, but there was no telling how that would go. She may have a button attached to her that she could easily access to set the entire place afloat.

"...I may have an idea." You muttered, your brain scattering to find different solutions. "But it's... complicated, to say the least."

"Any idea would help." Sigewinne replied. "What are you thinking?"

You sighed again, your shoulder dropping which allowed Wriothesley's coat to slip off a bit. "There's a group of people who... have connections down here. They're similar to the last group of people who wanted to kill Wriothesley last time I was here. I may have... sought them out because I was angry at him."

"Okay..." She nodded, albeit still holding concern in her tone.

"Anyways, it's possible that they may know of a way to escape." You explained.

Sigewinne's brows furrowed as she crossed her arms, wrapping her brain around your words. "So, essentially, you're thinking of getting out of here to inform some Gardes on the surface about what's going on here?"

"No." You said, shaking your head. "There's no telling who Chronie has control of up there as well. I want to take this straight to Neuvillette."

Her eyes widened at the mention of the Chief Justice's name, her hands dropping to her hips. "But you do realize what that means, right? Escaping from here during your sentence is a felony crime. You'd be down here for years because of that."

"Not if I can convince him otherwise." You replied, "He knew my mother. And during my two trials, it felt like he never wanted to convict me. Regardless, I feel like I could get through to him."

"That's a high risk-high reward idea." Sigewinne hummed, mulling your plan over. "But if this group of people you claim knows how to escape from here, why haven't they done so themselves? And not to mention there's been an increase in security around all exit points, even through the pipes."

"That's why I said it's complicated." You sighed, "But I think it's our best bet to get under Chronie's nose. She focuses solely on Wriothesley and the Gardes, not me."
