"Careful, careful, careful..."

As the Gardes worked to untangled you and Wriothesley's limbs from each other, Sigewinne monitored over both your vitals with what she was provided. She couldn't even begin to describe the relief, joy, and anxiety she was feeling as she assessed Wriothesley's heartbeat, trying to make sure he was still breathing.

She figured that it would be a bit slow, but it was still there. Releasing a deep exhale, she gave a nod to Clorinde before she and the Gardes carefully removed him from your arms and over to a nearby table they prepped as a bed.

"Please be okay..." Sigewinne whispered to herself as she began inspecting you, practically holding her breath as she tried to find your heartbeat. "..."

"How is she?" Clorinde asked after walking back over to her, a small hint of worry in her tone.

"...She's alive." Sigewinne responded after a beat of silence, sighing. "But her heartrate is really slow and her pulse is weak."

"Let's get her out of there, then." Clorinde nodded, instructing the Gardes to help remove you from the chunk and place you next to Wriothesley.

Sigewinne was by both you and Wriothesley's side in an instant, working meticulously over the both of you. Neuvillette watched and observed her with a keen eye, a small smile tugging at his lips as he noticed her mood improving. It was hard to see her so down the past week, especially since he had only seen her like that a long time ago.

"He's covered in blood." Clorinde stated as she watched Sigewinne inject him with some fluid, her gaze focused and concentrated. "And I don't see any signs of harm inflicted on him."

"Neither for her." A Garde added, "Fish blood, possibly?"

"The blast did kill a lot of species nearby." She replied, "But that would mean that the fish would have quite literally have to have been with him. There was no water in the shard when we opened it, meaning it was created only seconds before the explosion."

"It's probably best we collect a sample, then, and run it for testing." He replied.

"Yes, do that." Clorinde nodded. "And have the official report ready for me to sign regarding to the other twelve still missing."

"Understood."

About an hour later, the room had been cleaned and cleared, Sigewinne finally finishing her work with caring for the both of you. The only ones that remained behind were her, Neuvillette, Clorinde, and one other Garde.

"I suppose all we have to do now then is wait, yes?" Clorinde spoke, breaking the silence.

"Wriothesley will probably be the first to wake up." Sigewinne said, "He's in better physical condition than Y/N. It'll take her a moment to process the medicine I've given her."

"Then in the meantime, let us discuss the cause for the Fortress of Meropide's destruction." Neuvillette cleared his throat, turning to face the three of them. "I believe there was evidence found that suggested the electrical wiring in the pipes were tampered with."

"Yes." The Garde spoke, "We've recovered various traces of chemical compounds used in melee explosives, but since this was such a major destruction, we concluded that the entire place had been triggered."

"Yet there isn't any evidence or answers to questions such as who triggered them or how long they've been there." Clorinde added, crossing her arms. "So there's not much we can do until Wriothesley is conscious and responsive."

Sigewinne fidgeted a bit, averting her gaze. She had told no one anything about the truth, per Wriothesley's request. Despite Chronie clearly being long gone, it still felt like a fresh wound to her that she did not want to interact with.
