"What the hell is going on?!"

Sigewinne was dragging your arm amidst the chaos, prisoners running rapid around the fortress. Alarms were blaring, lights were flashing, and Gardes were barking and shouting orders across the crowds.

Your mind was struggling to even process what was happening. You were just fighting in the Pankration Ring, about to plan out your escape, and now you were evacuating the fortress?

"I can't explain it now, but the explosives have triggered!" Sigewinne shouted, her face red with the effort of trying to pull you along. "We're evacuating!"

"What happened?!" You shouted, still trying to drag her grip away from you. "Where's Wriothesley?!"

"I don't know!" She said, her voice panic stricken. "Please, Y/N, we have to GO!"

You tried to look around, trying to find those familiar colors of red and black that only Wriothesley wore, but you couldn't see him. If the explosives had triggered, that could only mean Chronie was behind it. You felt anger and worry well up inside your stomach, the chaos only making everything worse.

You grit your teeth once you saw Wriothesley's office, the door shut as usual. With a grunt of frustration, you pulled your wrist away from Sigewinne, making a beeline towards it.

"Y/N--!"

You bumped into other prisoners and Gardes who were trying to escape and warn you, but you paid no mind to them. What bothered you was the fact that Wriothesley hadn't come to you when everything went down--meaning something happened to him.

Your mind went to the immediate worst-case scenario; that Chronie had got to him. Fear and panic thrummed in your heart as it raced with anxiety and worry, your throat growing tight from the feeling of wanting to scream.

You nearly broke the door off its hinges as you threw it open, running up the metallic stairs towards his office. The alarm seemed to be louder here, as if it was warning you about what you were going to find.

Wriothesley's bedroom door was wide open--and you felt a cold sense of dread wash over you as you approached it.

"Wrio--"

You froze only a few steps inside of his room. He was there, he was unharmed.

But Chronie certainly wasn't.

There was blood everywhere. He was covered in it, she was covered in it, and the floor and furniture was drenched in it. The first thing you noticed was the large hole in Chronie's chest, the sight gruesome and gory.

You swallowed thickly as the alarm only blared louder, looking back at Wriothesley. He was just... staring at her. You could barely see his eyes from the way his head was hung, his hair creating a shadowy look across his face.

You caught the faint sound of something ticking, causing you to look back at Chronie's body. There, hanging from her hip, was a small mechanic with a display that showed a timer.

1:27

The panic you had felt only increased by tenfold as you immediately registered what it meant. You quickly drew closer to Wriothesley, not caring for stepping on Chronie's blood.

Without thinking, you grabbed his wrist and tried to drag him away from her, to get him to snap out of this frozen state he seemed to be in. But he didn't budge--his feet were practically glued to the floor, his figure unmoving.

1:20

"Wriothesley, come on!" You ushered, growing frustrated and more panic-stricken as he didn't respond. "We have to go!"

But it was like talking to a brick wall. He didn't even show any signs that he was present--it was like you were speaking to a ghost of his former self.

1:12

"Wriothesley!" You repeated, your voice tight with underlying emotion. "Please! You can't stay here, and I certainly do not want to be down here when shit goes down!"

1:07

Silence. Silence was his damn response, and it drove you up the wall. But you found yourself not wanting to just book it and leave him here--your head was screaming at you to run away, to make survival your first priority. But your heart...

0:59

"Wriothesley." You spoke softly, bringing your hands up to the side of his face. You tried to get him to look at you, but when you saw the lifeless glint in his eyes, the color resembling a dark and dead color, you felt your chest tighten at the sight.

0:47

You tried to plea with him, tried to bring him back to you, but it was absolutely hopeless. He was just... gone.

0:31

Your hands dropped from his face, defeat washing over you. Your head was beginning to win--you needed to go. You could feel yourself wanting to take a step back, wanting to turn around and run away, but... you just couldn't.

0:23

"...I hate you." You spoke, your jaw clenched as you remained in place. "I hate you so much. And I hope you know that I will hate you in the fucking afterlife too."

0:19

"Even if I managed to drag your big ass out of here, we wouldn't even make it to the damn exit!" You snarled, your fists balling. "Do you see what you do to me? Any rational person would have left your ass here, yet here I am, giving my life up for someone who doesn't give a damn again!"

0:10

"I hate you so damn much." You choked, "I..."

0:05

You found yourself clinging onto him, your arms wrapping around him as you closed your eyes tightly, feeling the sheer cold emitting from him. It was like he was dead as well, your arms only tightening as you listened to his heartbeat. You could barely speak, realizing it was about to be all over.

"...Just let me speak to Wriothesley one more time."

0:03

And right as you accepted it, you felt his arms wrap around you.

0:00.
