"So you spent the last 145 years pining over this girl only to find out she wasn't even in the tomb this whole time and she didn't look for you? She sounds like a bitch," I say before taking a sip of my milk, which I proceed to quickly spit out.

"Damon, this milk is expired!" I jump off the stool and run to the sink. I quickly try to rinse the taste of the disgusting milk out of my mouth.

"Well when you spend 145 years pining for someone, you don't exactly have time to go grocery shopping," Damon chuckles as he walks over to me.

I glare at him and he smiles at me as he cups my cheek in his hand and wipes off the milk and water running down my chin with a paper towel.

"So I guess you just live on blood and bourbon?" I ask as he pours me a glass of water.

"What else could I want in life?" he grins at me as sits back down and takes a bite of my sandwich.

"Hey!" I exclaim, grabbing the sandwich out of his hands. "If you were hungry, you should've made your own sandwich."

"A sandwich wouldn't have helped, Gabby."

I realize what he means by that and I try to lighten the mood.

"Not even this really burnt grilled cheese sandwich you made me?" I ask with a smile.

He shakes his head and laughs lightly. "Not even this really burnt grilled cheese I made you."

"Well, in that case," I say, taking a bite into the sandwich. "I'll eat it."

After Damon finished wrapping my wrist, we came back downstairs and made me a grilled cheese sandwich (which he burned) as he told me the story about how him and Stefan became vampires. It's kind of sad in my opinion.

They both loved this girl so much that they were willing to spend all of eternity with her. They both prepare to live that long only for her to be taken away. Then they find out later on that she had been toying with both brothers the whole time. Now they're stuck with each other for the rest of eternity. Damon claims he's only here to give Stefan an eternity worth of misery, but I think he actually enjoys being around his younger brother. They're all they have left.

"So what was Katherine like?" I ask once I finish my sandwich.

Damon lets out a sigh. "She was beautiful like you. She was also very complicated. Selfish and sometimes not very kind, but very sexy and seductive."

"It sounds like your relationship was mainly based off sex appeal," I state as I pick up my plate and walk over to the sink.

Damon's next to me in an instant. "You're probably right, but there was something about her..." he trails off, looking out the window. "There was something about her that just made me love her."

"Did you ever think that she might have been compelling you?" I suggest, washing the dishes Damon put in the sink earlier.

He shrugs. "It's crossed my mind a couple of times over the years, but I'm not sure. I don't think she was that manipulative."

"She could be. Like I already said she sounds like a bitch," I say in a sing-song voice, scrubbing the pan Damon burnt my sandwich in.

I feel Damon staring at me and I glance up at him. "What?" I ask.

"Do you want to see a picture of her?"

"Sure," I say, surprised at his offer. "I can't believe you still have pictures of her after what she did to you."

"I don't, but Stefan does. I'll be right back," he explains and he's gone in a flash.

I finish washing the rest of the dishes and I'm wiping my hands on a towel when Damon runs back into the kitchen holding a program.
