"It's so hard to see him locked up like this," Elena says as she continues to look at Stefan through the bars.

"You're the one who locked him up," Damon retorts and I elbow him in the side.

"You helped," I point out.

"I couldn't have him running around chewing on people when the town was looking for vampires, now could I?" is his smart ass response.

"It had nothing to do with you caring about him?" Elena questions.

"That's your thing, not mine," he says before turning around and walking back upstairs.

I roll my eyes and follow him as Elena trails behind me. He knows damn well he cares about his brother.

It's Monday morning and Stefan has been locked up all weekend. I slept over at the boarding house again to keep Elena and Damon company while they watched Stefan. Lord knows that those two shouldn't be left alone together for too long or they might rip each other's heads off.

I go put my empty cereal bowl in the sink and walk upstairs to the library where Damon and Elena are.

Damon is fiddling with the Gilbert invention as I curl up on the couch and Elena gathers her stuff.

"Did you ever figure out what that is?" Elena asks Damon.

"Nope," he replies, still focused on it. "Whatever it is, it doesn't work."

"Pearl didn't say anything else about it?" I ask, remembering what he told me Pearl said when she gave it to him yesterday.

"She thought she was stealing his vampire compass, but it was a pocket watch," he explains. "That Johnathan Gilbert was a crazy scientist."

He puts the pocket watch down and looks over at Elena. "Have you spoken to your uncle lately?"

"Actually, I've been avoiding him," she sighs. "That, and I've been here most nights."

"So you'll be here again tonight?" I glance over at Damon, wondering what he's getting at.

"Why? Is that a problem?" Elena asks, giving me a questioning look and I shrug.

"Yes," Damon says, turning around to face us. "You're a complete nuisance."

I shake my head and let out a small laugh.

"See you later," Elena smiles before grabbing her bag and walking out the room.

"You're not going with her?" Damon asks me when he notices I'm still sitting on the couch.

"Nope," I say, standing up and walking over to a bookcase.

"Why not?" he rasies an eyebrow at me, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Elena wants me to keep an eye on you and Stefan, so I told her I'd stay here with you guys," I explain as I pull a book off the shelf.

Macbeth. I always wanted to read this play. The Salvatores have a nice collection of books.

"Keep an eye on us?" he questions as I sit back down on the couch, pulling my feet up underneath me.

"Mhmm," I nod as I open the book. Act I, Scene I : Enter Three Witches.

"Since when do I need someone to keep an eye on me?" Damon sits down on the couch next to me.

I divert my attention away from the book and glance over at him, an inqusitive look on my face. "You're not being serious, are you?"

"Ha ha, very funny," he sarcastically laughs, rolling his eyes, but I just smile before I start reading again.

ALL: Fair is foul, and foul is fair: Hover through the fog and filthy air.
