"So what's it like having all those hot boys fawning over you all the time?" Catalina asks me as we talk over Skype.I roll my eyes. "They don't fawn over me, Cat," I tell my best friend.
I haven't talked to Catalina since I moved to Mystic Falls and right now I'm trying to catch her up on everything that's happened.
"Of course they do," she argues. "You're Gabriella Vega."
"And what's that supposed to mean?"
"Heads turn everywhere you go. I've literally seen people stop walking to stare at you. I bet-"
Cat's ramble is cut short by a knock at my bedroom door.
"Come in," I call out.
"Hey," Matt greets walking into the room and over to where I'm sitting on my bed with my laptop. "Caroline wants to know if you want to ride with us to the school to work on the float?"
"Uh, I wasn't exactly planning on going over right now because I know how Care gets when it comes to planning things, so can I get a ride to Elena's house instead and we'll meet up with you guys later once everything has calmed down?" I ask.
"Yeah, sure. Just meet us outside in five minutes."
"Okay thanks."
Matt leaves the room and I focus my attention back on Catalina, whose mouth is wide open in shock.
"Who was that?" she asks once she finally finds her words.
"Matt," I reply nonchalantly. "Caroline's boyfriend and a boy that doesn't fawn over me. I have to go now, but I'll talk to you later."
"But-"
"Te amo mucho! Bye!" I say, cutting her off and hanging up the call.

"I'm supposed to help build the Miss Mystic Falls float for the Founder's Day parade," Elena says into the phone as she folds a shirt. "If I don't, I get the wrath of Caroline but I wanted to check in first."
"Put it on speaker," I mouth at her and she nods, tapping a button on her phone before handing it to me, so she can continue to put her clothes away.
"I'm doing great," Damon says from the other end of the phone and I shake my head with a smile. "Thanks for asking."
"Checking on Stefan," I elaborate and Elena laughs.
"Oh, I didn't know Gabby was there. Hi bellezza," he greets me, getting completely off topic.
"Hi Stud," I reply, trying to hold back a laugh at how distracted Damon gets. "Can we please get back to Stefan now?"
"Oh him? He's terrible."
That catches our attention and Elena and I share a look.
"What's the matter?" she infers.
Damon sighs. "He's just back to boring, straight-laced, off the junk. You've successfully cured him of anything that was interesting about his personality."
My sister and I roll our eyes at how dramatic Damon is being.
It's been a couple of weeks since the whole Miss Mystic Falls weekend incident, but we want to make sure Stefan hasn't relapsed and he's still going strong.
It's also been two weeks since I was grounded for what happened New Year's Eve, which means I'm finally off of house arrest. I actually didn't mind having to stay in the house with Damon for a week and we had a lot of fun, but that's a story for another time.
