Being a Greengrass after all should sound pretty serene.
But being a part of "the Emeralds" should not, especially when hearts become entangled with the infamous Regulus Black.

Avery finally sinks into a seat, letting out a quiet sigh after wandering through the train for what felt like ages, debating which compartment felt right. She might as well make use of the one perk of being early—having the freedom to choose before every compartment becomes crowded. Hearing a knock on the door, she looks up to see Henry waving at her sheepishly behind the glass.
As she slides the door open, Henry offers a grin. "Hey Avery, good to see you again. How was your summer?"
Avery returns the smile, a little caught off guard by how easy he makes it seem. "Good to see you too," she says, then shrugs. "And, uh... the summer? Pretty uneventful. I mostly just stayed home."
"Quite the same," Henry nods, "I told myself I'd be productive—read more, do something cool—but I mostly just slept in."
Avery replies, "At least you had a plan. I just did whatever I felt like in the moment."
"Fair enough." He adds, "By the way, what'd you think of your O.W.L.s results?"
She shifts on her spot, a small smile tugging at her lips. "Not bad, I guess. Ten Outstandings and an Acceptable in Divination." She shrugs, trying to sound casual but feeling a flicker of pride anyway.
Henry's eyebrows raise in surprise. "Woah, that's brilliant, Avery. Not something someone can usually brag about."
She nods, a little smile still there. "Thanks, but what about you? The results."
Henry shrugs, "Nothing too impressive. Mostly Acceptables, a couple of Exceeds. I'm just glad I passed."
Before Avery could think of a response to him, she senses another presence approaching him. She doesn't have to look twice before she realizes it's Regulus — as usual, the second earliest to claim a spot in the compartment. He raises his eyebrows and flashes her a small smile as a greeting. Noticing their interaction, Henry shifted the conversation toward wrapping up.
"So, see you at the prefects' carriage later, Avery."
Avery nodded, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Yeah, I'll be there."
Henry gave a quick wave before stepping back and disappearing down the corridor. "Catch you both later."
Regulus's eyes flicked to Henry as he made his way over to Avery. "What was he doing here?" he asked, a hint of curiosity—and maybe something else—in his voice.
Avery shrugged, leaning back against the seat rest again. "Nothing much, just catching up."
Regulus hummed in response. "Since when did you two become close to catch up?"
Avery shot him a sidelong look, replying shortly, "We aren't."
