The following morning, Avery and Regulus were jolted awake by the loud hoot of an owl perched on the windowsill. Blinking sleepily, they straightened up in surprise, their bodies stiff from the awkward position they had spent the night in.

It took Avery a moment to register what was happening before she realized she might have fallen asleep on Regulus. The events of the previous night slowly came back to her, and she couldn't help the surge of heat that rose to her cheeks.

"I'm sorry," She blurted. "Did I... fall asleep on you?"

Regulus, still somewhat dazed from sleep, gave her a small, lopsided smile.

"Yeah, you did," he said, his voice rough with sleep. "And don't be. I didn't mind."

Just as Avery was searching for a response, Violet's voice cut through the awkwardness from the nearby kitchen.

"Oh, you two awake?"

Both Avery and Regulus startled slightly and whipped their heads toward the kitchen. Violet stood there in her work clothes, apparently making pancakes. They two had been so wrapped up in their own predicament that they had momentarily forgotten where they were.

Avery felt her face grow even warmer.

"Yeah, it's the owl," she answered, her eyes drifting back towards the owl on the windowsill.

She stood and crossed the room. The owl immediately stretched out its leg, allowing her to remove the letters attached to it. Her eyes skimmed over the parchment twice then widened. She spun around so quickly she nearly dropped the envelopes.

"Our O.W.L. results are here."

Regulus immediately straightened. "What?"

He strode over to her, peering over her shoulder to get a better view of the letters.

"Go wake Evan and Barty. I'll get the girls," Avery said.

"Okay." Regulus nodded and then headed quickly towards the staircase leading to the bedrooms, where the others were all likely asleep considering the time. Avery followed the same path and made her way to the girls' room on the opposite side. A few seconds later, she pushed open the door.

Pandora and Dorcas were both still asleep, tangled in blankets. She didn't bother being gentle, shaking both of them awake with her shouts.

"Cas. Dora. Wake up. The O.W.L. results are in!"

Both girls grunted and stirred at her voice, their eyes slowly fluttering open. Dorcas mumbled something incoherent, while Pandora yawned loudly and rubbed at her eyes.

"Avery! I was having a nice dream," Pandora complained.

"Did you say O.W.L results?" Dorcas slurred. She propped herself up on her elbows, trying to wake up properly.
