Being a Greengrass after all should sound pretty serene.
But being a part of "the Emeralds" should not, especially when hearts become entangled with the infamous Regulus Black.

"James! I swear, if that toast flies again, I'm hexing it myself!" Lily shouted, ducking as the golden-brown slice nearly hit Sirius in the shoulder.
James grinned mischievously. "Lils, you're taking dinner way too seriously. A little airborne toast never hurt anyone!"
From the corner of the kitchen came a high-pitched squeal, cutting through the banter. Avery's eyes softened immediately.
"Oh no... here comes trouble," Sirius whispered, watching tiny Harry crawl at top speed across the floor toward Avery. The two had come to pay a visit to the Potters for dinner, but apparently, little Harry had other plans.
"Gaaah! Gaaah!" Harry squealed, arms flailing like he was on a mission to claim Avery as his personal property.
Avery crouched down, scooping him up into her arms with a grin. "Alright, little dictator. You win."
James laughed, nearly spilling his tea. "See? I told you. Even the baby knows who the real favorite is."
Sirius groaned dramatically. "I'm out. A baby has officially stolen my spotlight. I can't compete."
"Not that you ever stood a chance," Avery said, bouncing Harry gently on her knee, her eyes softening as tears threatened to spring. "Look at him! So tiny and utterly adorable."
Harry responded by smacking Avery's cheek with his tiny hand and letting out a triumphant squeal. Avery laughed, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of his head. "Yes, yes, you're perfect. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
Lily, leaning against the counter with a smile, shook her head. "Honestly, Avery, he's been obsessed with you for months. And it's... well, it's adorable. And terrifying."
Avery laughed, adjusting Harry on her lap so he could face everyone. "I think I've officially lost all control over my heart to this tiny human."
Lily sipped her tea, shaking her head in amusement. "I think we can safely declare Avery the co-president of the Harry Fan Club."
James raised his teacup in mock salute. "To Harry, the cutest tyrant in the wizarding world—and Avery, his loyal subject."
Avery bounced Harry lightly, who squealed in delighted agreement. "Hear that, little one? You're the boss. I'm just here for the cuddles."
Harry giggled, leaning into Avery's chest, and the kitchen erupted in laughter. And Avery realized, with a full heart, that chaotic and ridiculous nights like this were the best kind of magic.

The night air was crisp when Avery finally stepped out of the Potters' home. Sirius had offered to walk her back—twice—but Avery waved him off, claiming she'd be fine.
