The Quidditch stands were packed to bursting, a sea of green and red banners rippling beneath the late spring sun. Chants echoed across the stadium as students stomped their feet against the wooden benches, each house determined to drown out the other.

Below, the Slytherin and Gryffindor teams gathered in tight circles around their captains, making last-minute preparations. Brooms hovered beside them, anticipation crackling in the air. Then—

WHISTLE!

Madam Hooch's shrill blast cut through the noise.

"Welcome, everyone, to the final match of the season!" Remus Lupin announced through the commentary megaphone, his voice carrying effortlessly across the pitch. "Slytherin versus Gryffindor! Both teams are looking exceptionally strong today, so let's see how this goes, shall we?"

Dorcas Meadowes practically launched herself over the railing as she screamed her support. Avery laughed despite herself and joined Barty and Pandora in the applause, all four of them displaying varying degrees of questionable Slytherin pride.

A tiny emerald serpent had been painted onto Avery's cheek that morning. Pandora's pale hair shimmered with enchanted green streaks. Barty had insisted on wearing a heavy dark-green jacket despite the surprisingly warm weather.

Dorcas, however, had surpassed them all. She was wielding a flag so enormous Avery was reasonably certain it required planning permission from the Ministry. A giant silver serpent stretched across the fabric, surrounded by painted faces of the entire Slytherin team and, for reasons known only to Dorcas, a smiling Professor Slughorn.

Barty stared at it. "Don't think you've got enough green on you there."

Dorcas ignored him entirely. Instead, she gave the flag another enthusiastic wave.
The pole smacked Barty squarely across the face. Then the fabric swung around and hit Avery.

"Cas!"

Avery ducked as the flag came around for another attack. Meanwhile, on the pitch—

"And Slytherin scores again!" Remus called excitedly. "That's another ten points for the snakes!"

Green erupted around the stadium.

"They're pulling ahead early, but Gryffindor isn't backing down. Carter is absolutely relentless today—WOAH! He nearly took a Bludger straight to the face!"

Laughter rippled through the stands.

"Chaser Smith has possession now," Remus continued. "He's flying straight for the Slytherin hoops—ROSIER BLOCKS IT!"

Evan Rosier intercepted the shot at the last possible second, batting the Quaffle away with such force that it rocketed back toward midfield.

Dorcas shrieked loud. "THAT'S MY BOY!"
