As O.W.Ls draw nearer and nearer, the atmosphere in every house's common room has changed to a studious one; Avery can practically feel the palpable stress radiating from the majority of students regardless of where she is on a daily basis.

Students who don't seem to give a care about their academics throughout the whole school year are starting to focus on their lessons. The teachers are no longer assigning them homework. The Great Hall runs out of desserts and fifth-year students by 7:30, whereas the maximum time for them used to be until curfew in the past.

And now, they're receiving their exam schedules and details of the procedure from their respective head of house in the Charms class.

Avery looks down at her schedule and finds that Charms is first while DADA is last. She couldn't be more satisfied with the order the subjects are arranged, because she would definitely want to face the practical examination of DADA the last. She turns to see Barty, who has a mortified expression on his face. On the other hand, Pandora merely takes a look at the schedule before putting it down on the table beside her.

"As you can see," Professor Flitwick tells the class while they copy down the dates and times of their exams from the blackboard, "your O.W.L.s are spread over two successive weeks. You will sit the theory exams in the mornings and the practice in the afternoons. Your practical Astronomy examination will take place at night."

"Most importantly, I must warn you that the most stringent Anti-Cheating Charms have been applied to your examination papers."

The Ravenclaws listen attentively as he lists a thousand banned items and spells that will prevent cheating in the examination, ending with potions at last.

"Don't talk to me starting from now on," Barty says to Avery and Pandora from behind them. "I'm getting 12 Outstandings."

One thing Avery does is check her calendar every morning she wakes up to see how many days have left before the examination starts.

"Ave?"

She feels her name being called several times before she feels a pair of hands shaking her awake gently. She blinks her eyes open to see Pandora's face hovering over hers, wincing slightly as she sits up properly and feels the back pain.

"Avery, come on, let's get to bed."

Pandora's words made her realize the fact that she'd just drifted off to sleep on her desk while studying Charms.

"Pandora?" she mumbles, still groggy from sleep. "What time is it?"

Pandora checks her watch, noticing the late hour.

"It's almost 2," she replies softly, her voice barely above a whisper for fear of disturbing the others in the dormitory. She eyes Avery worriedly.

"You were asleep on your books."
