Chapter Nine
~~
Levi smiled he had liked having Lindy around all the time; She had barley left his side since he woke up and remembered everything. The fact that she said she cared for him made it all the more sweet.
Once they we're home he'd ask her to marry him. He already had a ring as he planned on giving her his mother's engagement ring. It was something she had left him with one year before her death. He still remembered when she gave him the ring she had said 'It's for when you marry Lindy, it was originally my mother's and she gave it to your father to give to me and now I'm passing it down too you.'
He's mother always knew one day he would marry Lindy, and she often told him that. He missed her and his father. The ring would fit Lindy perfectly. It was a ruby in the shape of forget-me-not flower petals and in the middle was a round diamond.
It had been three and a half weeks since his accident and Daniel said it would be alright for him to travel. Dr. Jennings seemed over joyed as he didn't like Daniel running around when he was the town doctor. And he didn't like Lindy not listening to him.
Levi held tight to Lindy's hand as they got into the stage couch. Daniel had left the week before to get back to his home in Denver City, and George left four days ago to get back to Scarlett. So it was just Mahailey, Martin, Nathan, Lindy and him.
Nathan read a book as he sat across from him. Lindy was on his right and Mahailey was on her right while Martin sat next to Nathan. He couldn't have enjoyed the ride home more, Lindy held his hand the whole time, and they all laughed and chatted like the old friends they were.
"I'm going to go see Aivy, and then I'm going to home and see my family." Lindy commented
"I'm going home to sleep in a real bed" Nathan said "After three weeks in a tent it'll be like heaven."
Levi laughed; Nathan wasn't the pioneer type he was to accustom to 'city life'. The rest of the ride home passed by uneventful. Everyone was tired from spending so long in the small clinic, Levi included.

Levi smiled as he put the ring in his pocket; he had yet to ask Lindy's father but having asked him before he figured he could wait until Lindy accepted. He made his way to Nathan's room to tell him of his plan.
He knocked loudly waiting for the door to open.
"Levi? I see you're feeling better." Nathan commented as he left the door open and walked back to the small desk. Levi smiled and walked into the room closing the door behind him.
"I'm going to propose to Lindy." At that Nathan looked up from his paperwork.
"You are?" Nathan asked "Levi that's great, I'm happy you're finally going to get your girl!"
"How should I ask her?" Levi asked sitting down at the edge of the bed.
"You're asking my advice about this?" Nathan said sounding shocked.
"I always ask for your advice."
"Levi, I've never asked a woman to court me let alone marry me. I have no idea how it's done."
"Should I ask her to court me first?" Levi asked. He could court her, but soon as how they have known each other for so long he'd rather just ask her to marry him.
"You know Lindy better than I do... which do you think she'd prefer?"
"She's never really spoken about courting, she's always said she wants to have a wedding on her ranch."
