Chapter Two

"Lindy" Aivy said looking at her skeptically "Don't you think they're going to know were here just to see Mr. Mysterious."
"Not if I bring a pie!" Lindy said smiling "Besides Levi is one of my closest friends, and men are clueless as long as you give them food, they never know the difference."
"Alright..." Aivy said shaking her head and laughing slightly.
"What?"
"Nothing-"
"What do you find so entertaining?" Lindy pressed, she had known Aivy for nine and a half years and she could tell she wasn't saying what she was thinking.
"I just find this entertaining."
"Alright" Lindy said rolling her eyes slightly as she turned toward the library where she knew her mother was with her youngest sister Maggie.
"Mama" She said pushing the door open slightly "Aivy and I are going too town to visit with Levi."
"Alright Darling, have fun and invite him too dinner." Scarlett said smiling. Her mother had aged beautifully, she she didn't look her age at all in fact she looked far younger than her forty-one years. Her light gray eyes sparkled and she gave her a look, the same peculiar look she gave her whenever they talked about Levi. She was starting to feel daft when it came to the looks her mother gave her.
"I will Mama." She replied leaving her mother to the the room.
She handed the covered pie to Aivy as she climbed up into the buckboard beside her. She had her bag her aunt December had made her. It was one of her favorite things, the bag was made from buckskin, and had beautiful flowers beaded onto it. Her Aunt was half Navajo and did beadwork often, especially for presents. It came in handy for carrying things like money, and what not. And it was more functional then a reticule.
"Alright" Lindy said taking the reins "We'll stop and say hi too Mahailey before we go back home."

Lindy smiled at Carrie behind the counter "Carrie! We're here to see Le... er... Mr. Jasper and Mr. Adams." She said adding "We brought them a pie."
"Oh Lindy, they left... I believe Mr. Jasper said something about renting a building. And Mr. Jasper also said after he was going to see his cousin."
"Thank you Carrie." She said leaving the lavender and pink building that still read Lindy's Boarding House.
They made their way to Mahailey's house; she lived in town with her husband the town sheriff Martin.

Levi smiled at the small building soon the window would read Jasper and Adams Attorneys at Law.
"We should head over to Mahailey's then we'll go visit Lindy."
"When are you going to make a move?" Nathan asked seriously "I mean she is Twenty-Three and you are Twenty-Six you two aren't getting any younger..."
"I'm waiting for the right moment." Levi said defensively, although he knew Nathan made a valid point.
"Afraid she might reject you?" Nathan said as if reading his thoughts.
"Terrified."
"All I'm saying is you might want to tell her how you feel before someone else does."
"I know and I will."
