Chapter 2

I woke up to the sunlight coming through blinds burning my eyes. It felt like someone had hit me over the head with a brick and my arms felt numb. What happened to me, I never get this drunk do I? I lifted myself off the bed I was on and looked around. I was home, how was I home? I don’t remember coming home and why is Lucy asleep in my chair in my room? Better not wake her up. I looked down at my arms to see them covered in bandage and blood. I stood up to get to the bathroom but I didn’t get there in time. I threw up all over the floor, God did I hate the sight of blood. I looked up to see Lucy looking down at the floor disappointed.

“Really P.J, all over the floor.” She said still looking at the floor. She always calls me that cause she knows I hate it. My full names Paige Jasmine Roberts but she likes to call me P.J. I get my own back on her though. Her full name is Lucinda but she has a hissy fit whenever someone calls her that. Right now though I don’t think I’ll be able to fight back if she decides to tackle me.

“Sorry Lucy, I tried not waking you up and going to the bathroom but I couldn’t” I sigh feeling like a child again. I get off the floor and Lucy leaves to get things to clean it up. I sit on my bed while my throat is stinging. Why do I feel like this?

She come back to clean everything up while I sit on my bed helpless. When she finishes cleaning she comes and sits by me, she always likes to take care of me since I’m younger than her, her long black hair flicking across her face because of the open window, her eyes looked at me like she was about to cry. Now’s my chance to ask her.

“Lucy, what happened to me I don’t remember anything after leaving the club.” I ask feeling very confused. She looks at me with sympathy, something I have only seen a few times and starts to explain everything. I listen to everything she tells me, why don’t I believe her. How could I though, in all the time I have been in London I had never once been attacked. I start to yawn and she hugs me and walks to the door.

“Try to get some sleep lil sis; it might make you feel better.” She says as she closes the door. I lie back on my bed and drift off to sleep. It may have been just eleven o’clock in the morning but I felt like I could sleep for a week.

Two hours later.

Knock, knock, knock. My eyes open to see the white wall of my bedroom. ‘Go away’ I thought as I pull my body out of the covers.

“Come in.” I say annoyed that Lucy couldn’t leave me alone for a while. The door opens and Lucy pops her weird little head through to look at me.

“You ok P.J?” she asks

“Yeah I’m fine.”

“Good cause you got a guest.”

“What, who.”

“Just come out here would you.” She says with a smirk on her face.

O.m.g what no? Even though I didn’t want to get out of my bed I knew I had to. Lucy wouldn’t leave me alone if I didn’t. I slowly walked to the living room. I hated my apartment, white walls and laminate flooring, BORING! Even the chairs were boring. I looked around the room letting my eyes adjust to the very light room since I had been in the darkness for a while. I had only just woke up and the light made my head worse.

I continued to look round and noticed that Lucy was standing in the kitchen and a tall man was standing by the front door. He had a green hoodie and blue jeans on. His hood was up so I couldn’t see much off his face but from what I could see he looked only a few years older then me. I sat down on the couch and he came and sat down next to me.  His cologne hit my nose and I turned around and stared at him, I knew that smell from somewhere. I looked up at Lucy because I didn’t want to stare at this guy anymore. I would look like a creep. She glanced over to me with a glint in her eye and then left. Oh no.

The silence between us had got awkward so I thought it was time to speak up. When I looked at him this time he had taken his hood of and I could see his face. Wow, his eyes were bright green and just O.M.G! All I could do was stare. He had brown spiky hair that pointed in all directions. His muscles were hidden by his hoodie which was probably two sizes too big.  He coughed and I could feel my checks go hot. I probably looked like a tomato. Oh geez embarrassment central.

“Sorry, I’m just trying to see if I knew you from somewhere.” I lied covering up my staring.

“Your sister was right you really can’t remember anything that happened yesterday can you?” he asked sounding slightly sad. I looked away to the floor. Everyone knows what happened to me last night except me. Lucy may have told me but I just couldn’t believe her. He could tell I was lost so decided to tell me again.

Marcus’ POV

I knew that she was confused so I had to tell her, not everything just enough to ease her mind.

“My name is Marcus; I found you last night passed out in an alley. Your arms were bleeding and it looked like you had been beaten up. I couldn’t leave you there so I picked you up and brought you home. When I got here your sister nearly cried at the door. I then left so that your sister could take care of you.” I explained. I was waiting for the information to sink in but also for the next question that was about to come. I thought she was going to ask me how I knew where she lived but what she said next caught me off guard.

“Was it you who sent me that text message.” She asked still looking out of it. What! A stranger knew where she lived and she was asking if I sent her a text message.

“No, I didn’t send you a message.” I said. She suddenly shivered next to me. Obviously it creped her out that someone knew her number.

“Why did you help me, why didn’t you just leave me there like anyone else would?” she asked finally meeting my eyes.

“Why wouldn’t I, there was someone who needed my help, it’s my job to help them.” I said quietly.

“Paige I have to go but if you need help your sister has my number.” I said while getting up and walking to the door. She looked sad that I was leaving but I put it to the back of my mind, I have my job to do. I left her apartment and walked to the elevator to go to the roof. I waited silently for the elevator, come on I need to help this boy, please hurry up; he could die if I don’t get to him. My head kept ringing and I knew I had to hurry up. The elevator reached the roof and I ran to the edge. I jumped off and could feel my skin start to change. My arms shortened and my tail grew. My skin turned green and scaly. I flew up high in the clouds and fly forward. This may seem weird but this is normal to me. Yes if you haven’t noticed I’m a dragon and I’m what you call a protector, I help if people are in life or death situations.
