Chapter 7
Paige’s POV
I was walking to camp with my bag on my shoulder. I had been to work and back to my apartment. Marcus had the idea of me living in camp for a while and I acted on it. After I finished work I went to my apartment. Lucy was worrying about me since she hadn’t seen me for more than a day. I told her I was going stay over a friends for a bit and she went into super mum mode. She started asking me all these questions about who they were and where they lived. I had had enough, shouted at her then left.
Walking along a bridge I looked up into the clouds. I spotted a green tail and smiled. Was he trying to make sure I was ok? I laughed and continued walking; my eye caught the big battered warehouse that was soon becoming a second home to me. Everyone there made me feel like I was one of the family and that I belonged there.
I reached the camp just as Marcus had landed. He showed them his arm and we were let in. I kept wondering about his tattoo, I had seen it on all the other people who lived in the camp. It was a yin and yang sign. Wait, would I have to have it done. No way was that happening, I was deadly scared of needles. I had to ask about it anyway.
“Hey Marcus, would I have to have one of them tattoos that everyone has.” I whispered. I regretted asking it the second the question left my mouth. I didn’t want to know the answer.
“You mean it hasn’t come through yet” he asked. He looked at my shoulders and on my arms. He walked over to where I was stood and lifted up my jacket.
“Do you mean this tattoo.” He pointed to my shoulder.
What! I have a tattoo, how could I have a tattoo, why was I only just noticing this. I looked down at my right shoulder and gasped. It was a tattoo, an actual tattoo.
“There is still so much you need to know about your gift Paige.” He said. He took the bag of my other shoulder and walked inside. Great now I need to know more stuff about my gift.
Marcus’ POV
I grabbed her bag and walked through the door. I threw the bag on my bed and waited for her to come to me. She had no idea about her power and yet she seemed more powerful then all of us. She had to learn how to use her power but it would take a while.
She finally walked in looking really confused. Guess it’s time to tell her. She sat down and I told her, everything from how to move things with her mind to the tattoo appearing on her skin. I told her the tattoo was a sign she was with us, that she was good.
“I think it’s about time you learn how to fight don’t you?” I said jumping up and pulling her of the bed. I could tell from her face she didn’t want to do it but she had to.
I pushed her to the middle of the camp where there was dummies all lined up. She looked at me and shrugged her shoulders; she didn’t know what to do. I really felt sorry for her.
“Listen Paige, you have to concentrate on one of the dummies, clear your mind of everything but the dummy and concentrate on moving it with your mind. You have to believe that you can do it and you will be able to.” I explained. I really wanted her to be able to do this.
I watched as she faced the dummy. She took a breath and looked up at it. I was kinda scared to see it fly across the room and smash against the wall. The head fell of and it rolled across the floor. I knew she had the power in her. She started jumping up and down and screaming. She was proud of herself and she had reason to be.
Midnight
We sat on the roof looking at the stars; Paige wanted to come up here because she said she could think. I guess it was about how she destroyed all the fighting equipment. It was amazing; I know she would be able to handle guiding us into the fight.
“Do you really think I could lead all of them?” she asked. She was lying on her elbows and staring up at the sky.
“I know you can lead us to win against the bad, you have the power to do it.” I told her. “I have to tell you something Paige.”
She got up and turned to me. It actually made me nervous when she looked into my eyes. Come on Marcus, don’t be such a wimp!
“I… you should know that I’m gonna be here for you, if you need any help with anything.” I mumbled.
O.M.G I’m such an idiot, why couldn’t I just tell her the truth. She hugged me and turned back to the stars. I like her so why was it so hard to tell her that. When I tried to talk to her I couldn’t make a complete sentence, oh yeah that’s why.
Just as I was about to lie down I felt a drop of water on my forehead. I looked up to see the sky filling with clouds. No no no no no no no!
“Paige I think we should go inside.” I said.
We started to get up but it was too late. It was pouring down with rain and we were just stood here. Paige began laughing and looked up at me. Her laugh was contagious and I couldn’t help but laugh with her. We ran to the ladder and climbed down. We stopped at the bottom of the ladder completely drenched.
I haven’t laughed this much in my life; guess she just makes me a happier person.
