Chapter 12

Paige’s POV

I stopped as a pain went through my head. It caught me off guard as I stopped and held my head. What was that? Wait did Marcus find out I was tracking him? This is gonna be hard now. If he knows I’m tracking him he will plan a trap. If he’s been taken over by the demon then he would want me out of the way that’s for sure.

The voice suddenly stopped and I knew we had found him. My eyes searched for any sign of him but I couldn’t see anything. The dark night blacking out my vision I turned around to the group.

“Spilt up, hide anywhere you can, let me talk to him first and if I need you I will whistle.” I whispered.

I could faintly see nods of their heads and them leaving. I turned back around looking at my surroundings. I could make out trees and mountains. A light flickered in the distance. My eyes focused on it but it looked too far away to worry about.

“Marcus.” I shouted “Marcus, I know you’re here.”

The trees rustled and a big shadow blocked the light from the distance. This big shadow sent fear through me and I shivered. I heard a low laugh from him and I knew this wasn’t gonna end good.

“You shouldn’t have come here Paige.” The dark voice hissed.

The shadow came closer to me and I was scared. I watched as this ginormous shadow shrink into a smaller one. He now stood right in front of me but I still couldn’t see him. A light appeared near me and lit up his face. His normal kind face was replaced by one of anger. His eyes were black and he had an evil smirk on his lips. This is not the person I know.

“You being here makes this easier for me. You see I was told to kill you and now you have made it very easy for me. I think I might enjoy killing you.” He said walking around me eyeing me up and down.

“Why did you kill those people Marcus?” I whispered.

“Why not kill them; it was fun watching as they screamed for their lives.”

My head snapped to him standing by the side of me. He laughed at me. His eyes widened at me. He laughed again and pushed me on the floor. I looked up at him as he held his hand out and fire appeared from it. I went frantic and searched for something to knock him out with. Marcus didn’t have that power and I knew that the demon was getting stronger in him. I spotted a big broken tree branch near us and smiled.

I blinked at the tree and moved my eyes to Marcus. The tree flew towards him fast. It hit him in the back of the head hard and he fell to the floor. I didn’t want to hurt him because it hurt me. He quickly got off the floor looking down at me.

“Ohh do you think that’s going to stop me.” He laughed.

Before I knew what was happening I was thrown into a tree. My head hit the tree trunk and pain surged through it. My hands shot up and held my head. Marcus moved his hand again and I was thrown into another tree.

“You should have left when you had the chance.” He said

“I’m not gonna leave you here.” I coughed trying to catch my breath.

I could make out his face as it scrunched up. I knew he was still in there, he was trying to hide it but I knew. I heard a low growl come from his chest and I got ready for him to throw me at a tree again. Just as I thought he would he throw me at a tree. I coughed again but could taste blood. Ignoring it I spat out the blood.

“You are not an evil person Marcus, you showed me that by saving my life when I was mugged. I know your still in there.” I said.

He smiled at the idea that he was still human. Ha! I’m not giving up that easily. If I don’t get him back I might as well just die trying.
