Chapter 9
Marcus’ POV
I know it would freak her out being able to talk to her by thought but what else was I gonna do, she had been missing all day. I was beyond worried. Then I go tell her I love her, really now, great work Marcus.
When she said where she was I knew exactly where she meant. It was my family home, the house I grew up in but why had Luke taken her there? I wish I had told her I had a brother; she would have been aware that he was a shape shifter and avoided it. I wouldn’t be flying there now to rescue her. This wasn’t right, why did I have to bring her into this? We could have won the war without her getting hurt.
I landed on the front garden of my old house, now breaking and left. I had so memories here that I would never forget. One’s with all my family not just Luke. I put the memories to the back of my mind. No time to go back to memory lane.
I kicked the door open and went upstairs. I knew that’s where they would be and I also knew Luke. If had hurt her I swear to God I’ll kill him. Wait no I can’t think like that. Paige could be fine and just waiting to beat up Luke for herself. Ohh what the hell, I’ll beat him up anyway.
I got to the small black room and saw Luke standing with his back turned to me. Now’s the perfect time to kick his ass. I kicked him in the back and he fell to the floor. I punched and punched him in the face till there was blood coming from his mouth and nose. He lay there still but breathing. Damn it.
I left him there and went to Paige passed out and tied up to a chair. She had a black eye and a bloody lip. My heart sank as I took in the scene. This was too much to handle, how was I gonna cope when we are fighting. I knelt down and shock Paige’s shoulders lightly. Her eyes fluttered open and I let out a sigh of relief. She was O.K.
I went to untie the rope holding her to the chair and pulled her up. She hugged me and started crying on my shoulder. I hugged her back holding her till she stopped crying.
“I love you too.” She whispered. I couldn’t help but smile. Wait did she mean it.
She broke her gaze with me and stared down at Luke still passed out on the floor. I looked at her face to see something, anything but no emotion was there. She lifted her hand and moved it fast towards the wall. Luke’s body hit the wall with a bang and he fell to the floor. She simply walked away still looking in a trance state. Wow, I knew he was my brother but that was brave after what she had just been through. I checked Luke’s pulse to see if he was still alive. The amount of times I wanted him to die I couldn’t let it happen now.
I walked out of the house to see Paige waiting for me. She was sitting on the grass looking weak and fragile. I sat down next to her knowing Luke would be out for a while. I put my hand on her arm and she jumped.
“Sorry, I just wanted to see if you were o.k.” I said
She simply nodded
“You look tired; I think I should take you home.” I told her.
She nodded again. I got up and changed into my dragon form. She looked up at me confused.
“Wanna go flying?” I thought. I knew she had heard me when her eyes light up like earlier when I found her. I knelt down and she got on my back holding on tight as I took off.
Flying high through the clouds, we landed soon on the roof on the camp. She jumped off my back and sat down on the edge of the roof. The roof was flat all over so I could always land here whenever I wanted. I changed back to my human form and sat down next to her. The sun was just setting behind the mountains in the distance and the sky was full of all different colours.
