I miss her warmth. The feel of her skin against mine as she untangle herself from my hold. I blink my eyes seeing her going inside the washroom.
Laying straight on my back my thoughts drift back to her. It doesn't matter if I am looking at her or not. My mind and heart are stuck in the past. Whatever she went through all alone.
I can't help but blame myself. I have played a part in her pain. If I wouldn't have texted her that day. She would have been free of the burden she is carrying, her soul devoid of the scars she is learning to live with.
I know she is getting better. But that doesn't mean it's not my mistake in the first place. Things could have been avoided.
I let out a sigh. Meera is right, I can't change what happened but the nagging inner voice in me is constantly eating me out from the inside. There is an empty void every time I look at her.
My alarm rings bringing me out of my thoughts. I get up to use the washroom. While waiting for her I take out my workout clothes for the gym. She never wakes up so early in the morning. It's odd. Is she alright?
I push the door open to find her standing near the washbasin bracing herself with her head low. Panic grips me when her eyes meet mine.
Rimmed with unshed tears.
" What happened?" I ask reaching her in two quick strides.
I tilt her chin up, wrapping my arm around her waist. She hugs me instantly tears streaming down her face.
"Did you see a bad dream?" I whisper. The voice in me telling me it's because of me she has such dreams. I shut it up focusing on her.
" No." She whispers. The tight knots in my body instantly loosen. I don't think there is anything worse than her nightmares in our lives right now.
Cupping her face from the side I look in her eyes. " Fever " I don't wait for her reply and check her fever. Her temperature seems fine.
" Stomach ache. Cramps right. " If I am not wrong her period should be due.
But when I look in her eyes I just know it's not that either. It's not physical. " Tell me, Meera, what's worrying you. Did something happen? Someone said to you something. Did something happen at work? Tell me love." I whisper wiping her tears.
