Morning after the decision. Pancakes, confused siblings, and a wedding in twenty minutes.

The kitchen of the little seaside house smelled like maple and rebellion.

Vicky flipped a pancake with one hand and stared suspiciously at Bea with the other. Nancy was brushing crumbs off her shirt. Thèrèse sat half-asleep on the counter. Matt, shirtless, was trying to find a fork like it was a life-or-death mission.

And Nico?

Nico just sat at the table like he hadn't just agreed to marry Bea in... twenty minutes.

Bea, very calmly, poured syrup over her plate.

"So..." Vicky said slowly, eyeing Bea's left hand. "Is that a ring?"

Bea didn't even flinch. "Yup."

"Since when do you wear rings?"

"Since about eight hours ago."

Matt squinted. "Wait. Is that the ring? As in?"

"We're getting married after breakfast," Bea said, as if announcing she was going on a walk or doing laundry.

The entire kitchen went silent.

Then:

"YOU'RE WHAT??" Vicky screeched, pancake spatula frozen mid-air.

Nico choked on his tea.

"After breakfast," Bea repeated, completely unbothered. "Don't worry, I brushed my hair. Mostly."

Nancy made a strangled squeak. Thèrèse blinked and fell off the counter. Luke walked in just in time to hear it and immediately turned around like: nope, not today.

Matt looked at Nico, bewildered. "Dude, you didn't even tell me?"

"She said tomorrow morning," Nico muttered. "I didn't know she meant it. She always says stuff like that. I thought it was sarcasm."

Bea grinned. "It wasn't sarcasm. It was legally binding."

Vicky was still trying to recover. "You can't just wake up and get married, Bea! You need clothes! Rings! Witnesses!"

"We have a ring," Bea said sweetly. "And Vicky, babe, you're here. Witness. Done."

Nancy shook her head like she was watching the end of the world. "Is anyone officiating?"

"I'm sure Hugo knows how," Bea said, popping a grape in her mouth. "He once married two donkeys during a ceasefire."

Thomas bursted through the front door, half-dressed, hair wet from the ocean.

"Why did Gally just say something about you two getting married?" he shouted.

Bea stood, kissed Nico on the cheek, and said: "Finish your toast. I've got a wedding dress to not find."

And she disappeared upstairs with Vicky and Nancy scrambling after her, yelling questions and curses and something about brushing her damn hair again.

Nico sat back, still dazed.

"You okay, man?" Matt asked, handing him a coffee.

Nico just nodded.

"I'm marrying her," he said softly, a little awe in his voice.

"Yeah," Matt said, smiling. "You really are."
