VI.
"Miss Weisz?" A woman's voice woke me up from my sleep. "Miss Weisz, it's time for breakfast."
I took a second to remember where I was, then I felt the bed. It didn't feel like my own. My heart stopped as I thought of everything the day before— with my first memory of yesterday being Noah asking me to come with him to Sweden, all the way to the King of Sweden himself telling me that there would be classes conducted by ministers and that I was to be there.
It didn't feel like what my days usually consisted of. I was close to shrugging everything that happened yesterday as some bizarre dream, but just for good measure, I opened my eyes and took in the scene around me.
I was still in my suite in Noah's wing of Drottningholm Palace. Everything really happened yesterday.
"Miss Weisz?" The woman repeated. She was a brunette, in some sort of maid's clothes. I stared at her, a little dazed that I really was in Sweden to stay with the Royal Family for five weeks. "It's time for breakfast."
"Who are you?" I croaked, my voice a little rough from sleep.
"I'm the chambermaid for this suite, ma'am. My name is Charlitta." She introduced herself.
I pressed my lips together. "What time is it?"
"It's fifteen minutes past nine," she told me.
I groaned. "I've never slept past nine." I unwillingly sat up.
"Well, ma'am, you just did," she responded with a warm smile on her face.
Charlitta then pushed a cart beside my bed, serving me breakfast in bed. I had never been served breakfast in bed, but I could get used to it. I was served a light breakfast— scrambled eggs with French toast and some earl grey tea.
"If you need anything ma'am, there's a button right next to you on the bedside table so that you can just ring me anytime for anything. I shall take my leave now." Charlitta bowed a little before leaving my suite, not giving me enough time to thank her. I sighed, but then shrugged it off.
I enjoyed my food in silence while I turned the TV on. There was a Swedish morning program talking about pressing issues of today, like the Danish Royal Family not being able to rule Denmark properly and the European economy trying to bounce back after a financial recession.
I finished my breakfast quickly before taking a shower and changing into my floral black monochrome jumpsuit with black pointed-toe pumps. I then went on to check the time: 0950.
I opened the door, about to check on Noah when said person was standing there, already waiting for me. He gave me a small smile. "Good morning, Maeve. Are you ready to go?" He asked.
I frowned, checking my cellphone screen for the time again. "Well, we're ten minutes early—"
"That's alright. I'm sure the bakers have already prepared the cake flavours. Let's go." He offered his arm and I hooked mine through his, giving him a quick kiss on his cheek.
He led me to the dining hall, where the table setting was much different from last night. This time, there was only a couple of small plates set up with a small fork for desserts. Noah pulled out a chair for me to sit before he sat down on another.
