A/N: Hi guys, welcome to my new story! It's actually a sister-story to Kisses & Pages and Wanderlust (coming soon), and so you might see some mentions or appearances by my other characters in said stories! I've been thinking of this plot, so I'm glad I have finally written it out! Don't forget to vote and maybe comment at the end! The picture above is Elsa Hosk, who plays Maeve Weisz who's the protagonist. Check out her outfit for this chapter on my Polyvore site, on my profile.
For NBR readers: Hi there! I'm pretty nervous as to what you all will have to say about my chapter, but in case you can't go back to the NBR book and find my questions, here's a recap; at the end of the chapter, did I end the first chapter in the best way possible or was it too early for a cliffhanger? And are the characters (at least) likeable? Good luck to the other two contestants for this round too, and thank you guys! xx h

I.
Green eyes.
Mossy green. Emerald green. Green like the finest forests of the world and recently-polished emeralds. Green like four-leaf clovers and jade stones.
And they'd been running around my mind for the past week in my sleep, leaving me clueless with unspoken questions provoked every single time before I sleep and get lost in them. Finally, I figured I'd get my answers from someone I knew who could help, since those green eyes were being pretty uncooperative when it came to answering my questions.
I took a quick shower and went on to decide what to wear for the day; a grey woollen sweater and black skinny jeans, with matching black Mary Jane flats. Nothing more, nothing less. I tended to my long blond hair as I studied my round face in the mirror— my chatoyant icy-blue eyes, my turned-up nose, and my thin upper lip that was a contrast to my pouty lower lip. I glided my lip balm across them before grabbing my purse and heading downstairs for my breakfast.
"Maeve, you have an appointment with Mrs. Herczeg today!" My aunt Julia, who was a lively brunette in her thirties, reminded me as I walked down the stairs. "Am I ever going to know what it's about?"
Aunt Julia had been my guardian ever since I was a child, when my parents passed away in a train crash. She was my father's sister, and she'd been single all her life. She was pretty with her wide set of brown eyes, gorgeous smile and a slender 5'6" build, just three inches shorter than me.
"Nothing that should concern you, Aunt Julia," I told her, kissing her cheek as her eyes were trained on the television that was at the corner of the kitchen counter. Her face was currently marked with flour and dough with her black apron protecting her clothes. Her furrowed eyebrows and pursed lips gave me the impression that she was giving every single bit of herself to a single bowl of bread batter.
"Oh, look," she pointed her wooden spoon at the TV, pausing her process of baking bread for a second. "They're really charming people, those Swedish men," she commented.
I glanced at the screen and frowned. "What's Prince Christoffer doing in Hungary?" I asked.
There was Prince Christoffer of Sweden on TV in a fancy suit and tie, with his trimmed blond locks combed to the back neatly and his blue eyes shining as he waved out to a crowd when he stepped out of his jet. I knew he was the oldest son of King Henry II at 21, and that he had three other siblings. Other than that, I didn't really care to know anything else about the Swedish monarchy.
"He's just visiting around Europe and Hungary's his last stop. I think it's nice that he's independent now." Aunt Julia commented as she continued stirring her mixture.
