Recap: Sana opened up about her nightmare. She and Arjun shared an intimate moment, but he remained upset with her for hiding about it.
A half-broken building stood tall in the middle of nowhere. The surrounding houses and buildings had all been demolished, left in a scattered rubble.
Arjun strode toward the only two-storey building that remained upright amidst the wreckage. He shoved aside a large wooden beam blocking the entrance and stormed inside, his steps quick and purposeful.
Reaching the center of the building, he paused. His foot tapped twice on the second-to-last tile in the row — the only one with a slightly irregular pattern. The difference was subtle, nearly invisible at first glance. As he pressed it, the tile sank slightly and slid aside, revealing a small keypad embedded in the floor.
Arjun unlocked his phone and entered the security pin that had been sent to him. The keypad shifted sideways, and with a soft mechanical click, the tile beside it moved, revealing a hidden staircase leading underground.
Turning on his phone’s flashlight, Arjun began to descend the staircase. Behind him, the keypad slid back into place, sealing the entrance and cutting off any remaining light from above.
The temperature grew lower as he descended two sets of staircase and finally reached the underground. Two guards stood attentively in front of a massive metal gate. They straightened and greeted him as he approached.
Arjun nodded and questioned Shaurya's whereabouts. Both of the guards looked at each other signalling something. Then one of them came forward and took Arjun towards the cell that Shaurya was kept hostage in.
Arjun looked around as they stepped inside and noticed that most of the cells were occupied by criminals in terrible condition, with only a few left empty. Some prisoners lay bruised and bloody, their bodies alarmingly thin and weak. From time to time, distant screams echoed through the corridor, adding a chilling edge to the air.
The guard led Arjun to the farthest corner of the building, where a heavy metal door stood ominously, its very appearance reeking of torture and suffering. As the guard pushed it open, a piercing scream rang out, echoing through the entire chamber and sending a chill down his spine. But Arjun’s lips curled into a satisfied smirk when he saw the source of the scream, which was none other than the Shaurya.
Shaurya hung upside down, his back covered in raw, red stripes. Blood oozed from his wounds, mingling with the sweat that drenched his body. Arjun whistled loudly on seeing Shaurya who was groaning in pain without noticing Arjun's presence.
At the sound of Arjun's voices, Shaurya tried to turn his head, only to be struck across the face with a harsh whip. Blood poured from his nose as he clenched his eyes shut in agony. Red welts now marred his face as well. Darshan stood raging while clenching the whip tightly in his hand.
Arjun: Tch tch tch, paavam machan vitru. Edho enna paakanumnu aasapattu thirumbunathukku poi ipdi adichitiye. He spoke in mock pity, while picking up a vial of liquid discreetly.
Arjun: Paaru, moonjulam epdi sevanthu pochunu. He said with a false tenderness, while gently caressing Shaurya's wounded face with the hand now slicked in the liquid.
Shaurya experienced a sharp, burning sensation at the places Arjun rubbed his hand. And it didn't take him long to understand Arjun's action on seeing his smirk. He gritted his teeth, forcing himself to stay silent, determined not to give Arjun the satisfaction.
