The cafeteria was bustling with chatter of the students and clicking of utensils as Izuku sat between Toru and Ochako, quietly enjoying the food that he had ordered. Despite his quiet composure, his mind was a mess.
Four thousand, one hundred twenty-three. That's the amount of internship offers that he had to read individually for him to decide which hero agency to intern in. To say that he was overwhelmed by the amount would be an understatement.
Imagine having to read and/or analyze every single freaking offer in a span of an hour, while also simultaneously listening to Aizawa's lecture about the importance of the internship to their hero career as well as the rules and regulations that must be followed by each and everyone of them.
Among the offers, there were two that actually stood out for Izuku. Endeavor and Edgeshot, the Number Two and Number Five Hero, respectively. They stood out the most for different reasons, of course.
Endeavor, the Flame Hero, known for his fiery personality and his astounding achievement of capturing villains and closing cases, surpassing All Might's record. With the hero's mastery over his own quirk, Izuku believed that the hero could guide him in refining his flight capabilities as well as helping Izuku control the destructive nature of his conduit powers.
Edgeshot, the Ninja Hero, on the other hand, is known for his stealth-based style and mastery of the way of the ninja. Izuku could learn a thing or two on stealth as his powers are way too flashy and he could change up his style from time to time. Not to mention his Smoke could easily adapt with Edgeshot's stealthy and tactical way of approaching villains.
Though among the two, he had already decided who to pick. He's just waiting for the author to reveal it...
His choices weren't limited only to the two heroes as there are also some high ranking heroes that sent an offer to him and even considered. Ryukyu, Fat Gum, Crust, The Wild Wild Pussycats, Best Jeanist, and even the fast-rising heroine Mirko sent him an offer. All solid choices but Izuku thinks that his powers don't really complement these heroes' styles.
Well, that is most of them at least, as Izuku outright placed Best Jeanist's offer on the bottom of the pile. He has nothing against the hero, he actually respects Best Jeanist. Number Four Hero or not, there's just no way in hell that he was going to join his agency for an internship only to be forced to get his hair combed and wear blue jeans.
He let out an involuntary shudder as he pictured himself with combed down hair and his hero costume tucked under blue jeans.
Aside from those offers, the majority of his offers were all from either low ranking heroes that had just started their career, offers from heroes he was not compatible with, and finally, an offer from the Hero Public Safety Commission which surprised him, if not made him suspicious.
Izuku was sure that he would come across with the commission down his hero career as they were the ones that are responsible with handing out hero licenses to the students during the Hero Provisional License Exam. But for them to reach out this early in his career was too good to be true.
Call him paranoid, but the last time he let his guard down he was shot on the chest.
"So..." Camie said, earning Izuku's attention as it snapped him out of his reverie. "Have y'all chosen which agency to intern at?"
Izuku looked up and over at the girl at the opposite side of the table. Their class was seated altogether in one long table facing each other. Most of the guys were seated on the outer edge of the table for obvious reasons that is named Minoru Mineta, while Izuku was near the middle in between Toru and surprisingly, Shoko, the latter quietly slurping her cold soba.
