Never Be Alone

Chapter 18

Hayes POV:

It's almost been a month. Nobody can find Reagan. She could be dead for all I know! Shawn hasn't left his room. When Taylor went to check on him we found out he's depressed and has been cutting. Nobody has heard from Austin either. I have been looking everywhere I can think of. There is only one place left to look.

Austin had a vacation house a few hours from here. I didn't check because they were planning on selling it. Austin told me it was sold but something's telling me he was lying.

Lauren tried to kill herself the other day because she found out what Shawn has been doing. She's blaming herself. I feel terrible. I've never seen everyone so depressed. I've even thought about cutting a few times. I didn't though! I walk out the door. Shawn is coming with me because he said he needed to help find Reagan. We get in Shawn's car and start driving.

-skip two hours-

We finally arrive at Austin's vacation home and see a for sale sign on the lawn. There are no houses for a few blocks because his family owns a lot of the land the house was built on. Once we get out of the car we walk up to the door. We knock twice. Nobody answers so we try opening the door. It opens slowly. Then I hear something. It sounds like someone crying? I don't know where the sound is coming from.

"Shawn, do you hear that?" I ask him.

"Yeah. Where's it coming from?" He asks.

"I don't know. Check the basement. I'm going to check upstairs." I tell him.

"Okay but be careful!" He says. We both split up and go in different directions. I go upstairs and find nothing. I go back downstairs and find Shawn standing there.

"Did you find her?" He asks.

"No. You?" I ask.

"Nope." Then we both hear the sound again. I look around and I see I crack in the wood. I go over to it and I see something in the shape of a door. That's it! It's a hidden door! I look around for something to open it. Me and Shawn both look but can't find anything. I take a step back and step on something. It was the leg to a chair. I picked up the chair and I see a key under it. Now I have to find somewhere to put the key. I start looking around and so does Shawn. I find a lamp and I see a key slot in the base of the lamp. I put the key in and it fits perfectly. I twist it to the right and I see the hidden door pop open. I rush in and see a set of stairs. Shawn is right behind me. We hear the crying again. We start walking down the stairs.

"Please but again!" Someone yells. I start walking faster because I recognize the voice. It's Reagan! I find a light and turn it on. I feel my stomach drop. Reagan looks like she hasn't eaten it forever. She isn't wearing any clothes and she has cuts and bruises everywhere. She is so pale. Her eyes are shut and tears are pouring down her face.

"Please! I can't take it anymore! I get it. Nobody cares about me! Just please stop!" She says.

"Reagan I'm not gonna hurt you." I say. Her eyes pop open.

"Hayes?" She says. Still not looking at me.

"Yes Reagan, it's me." I say.

"I thought you forgot about me." She says. I turn around to look for Shawn but I see him with another girl. She has blonde hair. She has cuts and bruises too. She's not wearing clothes either. Wait. Is that Izzy? Yeah it is! But why would Austin do that to his girlfriend? Who knows.

I call the police and tell them where we are. They have been looking for Reagan for a month so if I say her name they will know the situation and will rush. I told them to bring an ambulance. Before they got here I heard a door open and clothes. I see the one person I never want to see again. Austin.

"We'll look what we have here. A rescue team." He says. Then he starts laughing.

"Austin shut up." I say.

"I've been waiting for you Hayes. Now I don't have to hunt you down and kill you." He says and pulls out a gun. I see Shawn seeking up behind him. I close my eyes and wait. I hear a gun shot but I don't feel anything. I open my eyes and see Shawn in front of me. He took the bullet. Soon after I hear the police rushing down the stairs. I see them take Austin and I see paramedics rush to Reagan and izzy and Shawn. All I can think about is the fact that Shawn just took a bullet for me. After everything I've done to his sister, he still took the bullet for me. They start yelling things that I don't understand and I follow them to the ambulance. I get in with Reagan because I think she needs someone right now.

"Reagan I'm so sorry I didn't get here sooner." I say.

"At least you came. I didn't think you would." She says. Why would she think that?

"Of course I would! I love you!" I say.

"Now I can believe you." She says. Then her eyes close. I see the paramedics rushing around and yelling but I don't understand anything. They are all yelling different things at the same time. I hear heart monitor. Her heart beat is increasing.

"No Reagan! Stay with me!" I yell.

"You can't leave me! I just got you back!"

"Please!" I scream. I feel tears rushing down my face. We arrive at the hospital. They take Reagan away from me. They tell me I have to wait in the waiting room. I make my way there and I sit down.

Then I wait.

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been updating. I just got back from a trip. I'm back now though! Should be more updates more often! I know I keep saying that and I really am I trying, I promise!
