My return to school in January was not a happy one. Despite the fact that my mother and Charlie were now more comfortable with Jacob and I spending a large majority of our time together, I wasn't ready to go back to school and limit our time together. As was expected of my over-protective boyfriend, Jacob dropped me off at school that fateful morning.

"I can't believe you actually have to go back to school." He mumbled, a bit annoyed with me even though I knew he probably wouldn't allow me to stay home anyway.

Ever since Jacob was forced to go through an unfair ordeal just to get his G.E.D., he was much more passionate about my education. He vowed that he would help me study this semester and he would drive me to and from school every day.

"Well, we could sneak out to Port Angeles or something?" I suggested while my boyfriend just rolled his eyes in reply.

"There is no way you're getting out of this, baby." He said in a teasing tone that made me whine.

"Why can't I stay with you?" I asked again even though those exact words had left my mouth repeatedly over the last twenty four hours.

"Because you have to go to class."

"But we could have a romantic day together!"

"I'm on patrol with the guys anyway." He told me with a small shrug.

Before I could say anything else to Jacob, he leaned in and pressed a sweet kiss to my lips. I was pouting when he pulled away and he ended up pressing a kiss to my pouting lips. Eventually, I slid out of his bright car and I made my way into the building.

Unlike Bella when she was here, I didn't really have many friends. Most of the guys were too scared of Jacob to engage in any form of polite conversation with me and most of the girls had assumed that because I was in a strange way related to the Cullen's, I was convinced that I was better than them.

So, I usually found myself walking to class alone, eating lunch with the other kids who took art, and then waiting for someone to pick me up once my classes were over. I had a small bruise on my leg from when I fell in P.E. and my hair was in a messy bun by the time that Jacob rolled by on his motorcycle.

Once he saw me, he pecked my lips.

"How was class?" he asked me as I rolled my eyes and got onto the back of his back.

"Boring as usual." I began to mumble as I put on my helmet. As usual, he wasn't wearing a helmet but he insisted that I wear one. "Please don't make me come back tomorrow."

"What kind of boyfriend would I be if I helped you stay home from school?" he teased before driving away from the building while my arms were tightly around him.

The strong winds whipped around the two of us as Jacob drove back to La Push. Since it was the first day back, I had no homework and everyone seemed to agree that I should be allowed to spend the remainder of the day with Jacob. His house, as usual, was filled to the brim with the other members of the pack and I was greeted happily as I walked in behind his strong body.

"How was your first day back in school?" Seth asked me as I sat down at the kitchen table in order to plug my phone into the wall so that it would charge.

"Not pleasant." I said which made him laugh a bit since he would be returning to school a week from now.

"What happened?" he asked me while Jacob grabbed something to nibble on from the snack cabinet that was way too high for me to reach.

In fact, I usually had to whine for Jacob to come help me or I had to climb onto the counter in order to reach most things in any of the houses in La Push. I turned my attention back to Seth and thought about it for a few seconds but there was nothing in particular that caused me to have an off day. Being away from Jacob and my friends was enough.

"I guess I've just got to get used to it all over again." I offered as honestly as I could, not too sure why the day was so strange for me in the first place even though I assumed that it had something to do with the fact that Jacob and I were now official.

"Apparently, it only gets harder and harder to be away from each other." Seth said to me, seeming to know my thoughts better than I did.

"I didn't think it would be this hard for me." I admitted with a small shrug, realizing that my mind was subconsciously keeping tabs on where Jacob was and what he was doing this whole time.

I hated to be so dependent on him. But, Seth flashed me a small smile and I knew that everyone in this house at the moment understood exactly what I was going through. Without warning, Emily walked into the house with a distraught Sam behind her. Everyone's conversations silenced as we all turned to look at them.

"Paul and I caught sight of a vampire on the edge of the border," he began to say as everyone's eyes widened and Jacob stepped closer to me, "We've alerted the Cullen's but we need everyone out there tonight."

With those few words, everyone started shuffling around as goodbyes were said and kisses were exchanged. I looked up at my boyfriend and he was biting down on his bottom lip. It was obvious that he didn't want to go but it was getting dark soon and patrols would be starting soon.

"Hannah-" Jacob began to say before I smiled and cut him off.

"-it's okay. I'll text Bella or my mom and ask for one of them to pick me up at the border. You guys can go." I said to him as understandingly as I possibly could since I didn't want to keep him from participating with whatever he wanted to do.

"Are you sure?" He asked me cautiously as if he wasn't sure that I would be safe unless he was by my side.

"Of course I am! Bella and I will watch one of the Harry Potter movies and talk about you. Don't worry about me." I offered again.

He nodded his head and leaned in to press a sweet kiss to my lips. When he pulled away, he followed the crowd out of the small house and I grabbed my phone so that I could text my sweet sister.
