Chapter 7 The Squid Squad

I woke up that morning with Max clinging to my waist. I pried him off of me and stood up. It was 3 am. I walked to the bathroom when my dad was just walking through the hallway in his pjs. "Morning Aurelia. You're up early." He said ruffling my hair and kissing me on the forehead. "Morning dad." I said tiredly opening the door. "By the way.." My dad said stumbling back. "Who was that boy in your room?" He asked. "Oh.. That's Max, he slept over. It was raining a lot.. Y'know squid kids can't swim.." I said. "Okay." He said. I could tell he was suspicious. I walked into the bathroom and washed my face. I heard a yawn. "Aurelia..?" I left the bathroom and peeked inside my room. Max was waking up. "Get up sleepyhead." I said. "Neeeioooo.." He whined. I walked over and slapped him with my wet hands. "AG IM UP!" He said. My dad came in. "Oh.. Hello." He said. "Hi.." Max said. "I'm Aurelia's father." He said walking up and pulling me close to him. "Oh.. Umm good morning Mr.." "Delfino. You can call me by Mr Delfino or Oro." He interrupted. I could see beads of sweat forming on Max's face. "O..okay um were gonna go meet our friends in Inkopolis bye!" I interrupted. I ran out the door. "YOUNG LADY! Get changed first!!" My dad yelled. I shuffled back into the room, grabbed my hoodie, shoes and headphones and rushed into the bathroom. I threw in all the clothes and Max and I ran out of the house. "Max gimme your phone." He passed it over to me and I quickly texted Star and Scamander.

'HEEEEYY Max and I are heading to Inkopolis NOW'

'Jesus Christ why so early?!'

'You two are crazy, why so early?'

'MEET US OR NOT?! I heard there's a new game mode'

'Coming now.'

'Gimme a few, I'll be there'

I shut off his phone and passed it back. We caught the train and headed for Inkopolis. We rushed through the gate. Star came in out of breath. "I'm here!" She said. Her hair was a mess and her hat was almost off of her head. I giggled a little. I noticed a familiar hairstyle. "Retena!?" I shouted. She turned. She was wearing new glasses and had boots and a checkered shirt. She waved shyly and ran to a group of girls.

Scamander finally arrived. "Sorry I'm late guys, I had to make breakfast for my little sister before I left." He said looking away. "It's fine! Let's check out the new game mode, it was supposed to be the ranked battles." They nodded and we all ran to the lobby. We stepped inside. "Hey look! It says squad!" I pointed out. "Let's make a squad!" Max said smiling. "The squid squad!" Star cheered. We all laughed and made a squad together. Unfortunately we couldn't play because Max and I were too low of levels. We joined a turf war. Over and over again our teams mixed up, Star and I, Max and Scamander, Scamander and star. I got all the way to level 6 and Max got to level 7. After we played multiple battles I went to the weapon shop and bought a carbon roller.

I smiled. It felt perfect. "Care to duel my fellow roller?" I said wiggling my eyebrows goofily at Max. "I accept mi'lady." He said returning and eyebrow wiggle we all laughed and we entered a duel, Star and Scamander spectating and cheering in Walleye Warehouse. "Go Aurelia! Beat him!" Star cheered from the highest boxes. Scamander on the opposite side. "Beat her Max! You're more experienced!" Scamander cheered. Star stuck her tongue out at Scamander and the battle began. I planned out my strategy carefully. Making large circles so he would never know where I was. When he'd come by I's spring up and attack. My plan worked just as planned. He came by and I jumped up and slammed it down on him. "AWW NOO!" Scamander said. "Go Aurelia! Get him tiger!" She cheered. I smiled and spread more ink. He came around again but chased down my entire trail causing me to rise and retrace his trail. It was kinda like tag. I made him follow me up a ramp and I jump down turned around and slammed it again. "MAN DOWN, MAN DOWN!" Scamander yelled whacking himself in the forehead. "DOMINATE QUEEN!" Star yelled. "YASS GURL!" I yelled back. "YAAAAAS!" She yelled in response. The round ended and I won. "You're really good with that roller Aurelia." Max said looking a bit embarrassed. I smiled. "Thank you!" I exclaimed. "Well I think this is were we split up for today.." Star said. We gathered together. "HANDS IN!" We said in unison. "3..2..1.. SQUID SQUAD FOR LYFE!" We all yelled in unison. We all laughed and split up for the day.
