Chapter 13 Training

We had been training for three hours. I had become a level 15 while Star was level 24, Scamander 19, Estelle 22, and Max 16. "Can we take a break for a little?" Scamander said out of breath. "Go ahead, I'm not holding you back." I said. They all sighed and collapsed on the lobby floor. I pressed Ranked Battle for the 25th time today. "Get ready. Keep my stance wide.. Keep my mind open.. You can win it all." I said to myself. The game started. "Moray Towers." I made a vow to myself that if I was splatted during a battle I would completely shut everything out as if it were the Elimination Championship. We sped forward and carefully but quickly ran to the middle and took control of the tower till my teammates got there. Once one of them did I jumped off and waited on the side of the tower smashing any enemies that threatened my teammate. I pretended that they were someone else. Someone I loved and was willing to die for. In the last stretch I ran forward and smashed everyone. Suddenly someone dropped in and splatted my teammate on the tower. I shrieked with anger and splatted the person. We made it to the end with a clean victory.

I exited the game and headed into the lobby. Level 16 I'm coming.. I said walking out. Star, Scamander, and Estelle waited outside. "Congrats!" They all said in unison. Star was holding balloons, Estelle had a nice pair of boots and Scamander had a weird machine in hand. I moved forward and hugged them all. "Thank you all so much.." I said smiling. Star handed me the balloons. I smiled and held them tightly. She tied them to my wrist. Estelle handed me the pair of boots. "I bought you these Octoling boots, just throwing out a little money for a friend." She said smiling and handing me the boots. "Thanks Estelle..." I said smiling. I walked to Scamander. "I got a you a stat scanner. It activates stats on your clothing items." He said handing it to me. "Thanks Scamander." I said smiling. "But where's Max?" I asked. Everyone gave each other sly faces. "He said he had a special surprise for you." Star said wiggling her eyebrows. I smiled a little. "He left this note." Scamander said handing me the note. "Don't have too much fun." Estelle said smirking. "You're still young." Star added. "WHAT ARE YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT JESUS!" I yelled. They all smiled. "Buhbye!" They all said in unison and dashed away. I rolled my eyes and looked at the note.

I walked out of the gate and walked to the train.

The train stopped and I stepped out. The night sky was beautiful and I walked up the hill. "Hi Max." I smiled. He turned around. "Oh.. Aura, sit, sit!" He insisted. I sat down next to him on the picnic blanket he had. "So.. What's this special surprise about." I said smiling. "I just wanted to thank you for backing me up with the news story and all that." He said. "No problem, you're important to me Max, more than you probably think." I said placing a hand in his shoulder. "Aura.." "Hmm?" "You're amazing." "I'm really not Max.. I don't know why you think that.. I'm just a normal inkling," I said. "And about the Elimination Championship. I entered. I checked the results and if I survive we'll be on the same team for the entire championship. I just what're to let you know. You're going to do great things. I want to protect you with my life. Even if it means I won't be able to speak to you if I die I'll be there. And I'll miss you. But no matter what. Don't die on me. I would never be able to forgive myself. It would feel like I died inside." He said. "Max..? I know you care but, I care too. I would never let you die. No matter what." I said. "If I do die-" "Max you won't die!" "Let me finish, Aura. If I die, I want you to fight with all you've got. Fight till you can barely stand and fight beyond that, for me, Star, Scamander, and Estelle." Tears started to form. "Max I..." I quickly collapsed into his arms crying. "I don't want you guys to die!" I said. "I want you guys to be with me along the entire way!" I cried. He hugged back. "I wish it could be that way. But I know that none of us are as strong or as capable as you, but we all swore to do the best we could." He said. "Max.. Promise you'll cover me." I said. "I swear on my life." He said.
