I run out of the car, and to my Dad. It's been a year since I got to just sit down and talk to my Dad at a dinner table. I know I'm lucky that it has only been a year, but when you are so close to someone a year seems like forever. When I run up to him, I just hug him very tightly.
"Who's idea was this?" I said, with a tear running down my cheek. He wipes the tear off my cheek with his finger.
"It was Austin's idea to have us go to Olive Garden. I didn't think the Olive Garden thing we use to do even mattered to you anymore." He said, with a side smile.
"Of course it did!" I said laughing.
"Well, why don't we go catcch up with all the things I have missed this past year?" He said, and put his arm out, and I attached mine to his.
"Let's." I said smiling.
I'm so happy that my Dad came to New York to see me. I definitely wasn't expecting it to happen while I'm with Austin, but I don't really care what time it is. As long as I see him.
We sit down and we get our drinks.
"The usual?" My Dad said smiling.
"Yeah." I laughed.
The waitress comes back and asked us what we would like.
"A big plate of fried ravioli's please!" He said.
"Okay, it'll be here shortly." She said said, with a big smile.
"Thanks." Both my Dad and I said.
"Soo..how have you been the past year?" He asked me.
"Not so great actually." I said with a sigh. "Well, I mean besides the past week, and you being here." I said smiling.
"Why not so great?" He asked, looking worried.
"School. The people that think they're better than everyone else. Yeah. Them." I said, getting worked up just thinking about all of them.
"So you're getting picked on by conceited people?" He asked, shaking his head.
"Yeah, and I don't know why. Probably because everyday I go to school looking like a complete clown." I said, rolling my eyes.
"You're a beautiful girl, I think they may just be jealous of you." He said. "Do they know you date Austin?" He asked.
"No, but we aren't telling anyone but our parents that we're going out, only because you know, publicity." I said, rolling my eyes again.
"Ah, I see." He said nodding his head.
"Yeah." I said.
"So how is your love life?" He asked laughing.
"Dad. Really?" I said laughing.
"Yes. I want to make sure that I don't have to beat any kid's a--"
"Dad. You don't have to kick any butt." I said interrupting him, and laughing.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Yes. Well, I mean there's this one boy that really needs to be slapped." I said.
"What boy?" He asked, looking very serious, getting mad quickly.
"Dad, he's not Austin." I said laughing. "His name is Brian, and I caught him making out with one of those conceited people at my school. And it was very upsetting because it was at homecoming." I said, getting mad at the thought.
"Well, whenever I get a hold of that boy, he will regret ever cheating on you." My dad said sounding very over-protective.
"Dad, it's okay. I'm totally over it now." I said smiling.
"That's right...because of Austin." He said. "I like that boy." He continued.
"I'm glad you like him Dad. I like him too, and I believe that we'll be together for a very long time." I said smiling.
"Good." He said. "Is your Mom okay?" He asked.
"She's been okay, I can tell she misses you." I said, with a side smile.
"Yeah, I've been missing her a lot." He said, looking sad.
It's so cute to me, to see a love like my Mom's and Dad's. They can be miles apart, and they still trust each other, and they still love each other as much as they would if they weren't miles apart. It just shows you how love can still happen if you're miles away from each other. Yes it may suck sometimes, but you have to do what you have to do.
"Well, I know you guys will have fun in Tennessee together." I said smiling.
"About that.." He said.
"What...?" I said looking worried.
"You don't have to come home with me, I want you to stay with Austin." He said.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Positive." He said. "Anyways, I want to spend time with your Mom too, to make it up for the year I've missed." He said, looking sad again talking about Mom.
"Whatever you say Dad, just make sure if you want me to come home, then I'll come immediately." I said.
"I will." He said, smiling.
The lady came with a big plate of ravioli's.
"Thanks." I said, and the lady smiled. "If you need anything just let me know." And she walked away.
"I have something to ask you about." I said.
"Yes?"
"Why have you been having that teacher of mine, send you the things I write in class?" I asked.
"I know that may seem very weird, but I do that because I'm very close friends with that teacher. She's one of the easiest ways to get to know how you're doing, and what goals you have so I can talk about them to you." He paused, "I love you Ava so much, and if my daughter is stuggling at school or at home, I want to know." He said.
My. Dad. Is. So. Amazing.
"Thanks Dad, I really appreciate it." I said, smiling.
We started to finish our ravioli's, and I think it may be time to go to Austin's concert, well it should be over by now. Michele wanted me to be outside of Olive Garden around seven thirty.
"Austin cleaned you up really well." He said, laughing.
"It wasn't Austin! It was his Mom actually." I laughed. "Her name is Michele, she's pretty cool." I said, smiling.
"That's good!" He said. "Just remember, don't let the conceited people get to you. Okay?" He pulled me into a really tight hug.
"Okay. Thanks again Dad, for everything." I said. I checked the time and I only have five minutes, until the time I have to go.
"I love you Dad. Make sure you tell Mom I love her too, I haven't talked to her for about two days now." I said smiling.
"I will." He said, smiling.
"Bye Dad." I said.
"See you Monday sweet pea."
I ran off to Michele's car, and that was one of the best dinner's I've had in a long time with my Dad.
