Three words. That's all it took for Savannah Way. Three words, and thirteen letters. Leave her alone. Those three words were all it took for Savannah Way to punish me into this disastrous 'operation.'
I had been walking out of my World History class, going to my American Lit class, when I saw her. She was pushing one of the emo outcast kids into a locker, roughly. I knew, for the best of myself, I should just walk away and forget it. But, I know how it feels to go through with the bullying and torture. Me being a nerd, I was bullied a lot, but now it's just been warnings. As long as I do their homework...
My conscious didn't let me walk away, anyway. I walked behind her and tapped her shoulder, catching her attention.Savannah noticed me and sneered. "What do you want, nerd?" She asked.
I gulped. And without thinking, I responded. "Leave her alone." I said.
"And why should I?" Savannah asked, looking toward me. The girl managed to slip by and run away. Savannah muttered a curse. "Look what you made me do!" She growled and took a step toward me, in a warning posture.
I gulped and started rushing off to my class, getting away from her. But I stopped and turned to her, daringly.
"One day, Savannah, Karma will bite your butt." I said, turning and rushing to American Lit.
"Miss Willows, you're late." Mr. Sanford said.
"Sorry, I got caught up in a conversation. It won't happen again, Mr. Sanford." I said.
"This is your last warning, next time will be a detention slip." He said. I nodded and sat in my seat. What was I thinking?! I'm now on Savannah's hit list! I felt a paper hit my head and land on my desk. It was a paper airplane with 'Cecelia' written on the wing. I opened it up to see a note.

Cecelia, meet me in the courtyard after school.

-Savannah W.

I rummaged through my brain, looking for the memory of what importance the courtyard would be. The courtyard is behind the school, and it's very popular among the outcasts and stoners. So why would she want to take me there?
Then again, if she wanted to kill me, the courtyard is a perfect place. Everyone there probably doesn't give a damn about what's happening around them. Give them money for drugs, they'll stay quiet.
"Miss Willows?" Mr Sanford asked, breaking me out of my thoughts.
"U-uh, sorry!" I apologized. He sighed and repeated what he had said.
"Um, the correct spelling is onomatopoeia, so David spelled it wrong." I answered. He nodded and continued on with calling students to answer.
Is Savannah really going to kill me? That's absurd...or is it?
As I continued thinking over it, I became even more anxious.

When school was over, I walked out of the building and headed to the back of the school. When I got to the courtyard, Savannah wasn't there. I walked over to a lone tree and sat under it to wait. The breeze blew the smoke from the stoners' area, making me cough. When i regained my composure, I saw Savannah walking my way.
"You came, Cecelia." She said with a bittersweet smile.
'She's going to kill me!' I thought, even more anxious.
"Now, Cecelia, I didn't like what you pulled off earlier with distracting me and letting that freak go. You need a punishment," She paused and I flinched a bit, making her smile. "And I have one." She pulled out a paper and handed it to me. I looked at it and read it.

I, ______, agree to be apart of Operation: Nerd To Emo, in exchange for being forgiven of my misbehavior. I must follow what Savannah Way says and befriend the Emos. ___________ Signature _________ Date

"It's this or being beaten every day." She said. I gulped and nodded. She handed me a pen and notebook for a hard surface. I signed the contract. A contract to the devil herself. One that'll change my whole life.
"Tomorrow morning I'll pick you up to go to the mall and get you all settled." Savannah said folding the contract.
"We're skipping school?" I asked.
"Yes, nerd." She said, rolling her eyes. She put the folded contract inside her purse, turned and strutted away.
"What have I gotten myself into..." I spoke to myself. I slumped against the tree, dreading the future.
"Want one?" A dude asked, holding out a joint. I shook my head, standing up to leave.
"No thanks," I said before leaving the courtyard and heading to the place I don't call home.
