"There you are Katie, what on earth were you doing?" My uncle asked me as I walked into the room, humming to myself.

"Sorry Ben, I got lost. I've never been here before, you know that, I had no idea where to go" I said to him, a little annoyed that he was annoyed about me taking so long. I still got him the coffee and it was still steaming.

"You should have asked me where to go before you left to get the coffee then!" He said as he took a sip and turned back to doing whatever he was doing.

"Well now I know where to go, thanx to Eddie, so when you ask me again I won't take so long" I said as I sat down on a chair in the corner. I looked over at Conor, he was smiling at me and I could tell he was trying not to laugh.

"Eddie, right nice boy. You two should go out" I was still looking at Conor when he said that and I immediately looked down.

"Ben..." Sure Eddie was a nice guy, but my mind was far away from thinking about going out with anyone. After everything that's happened and with all the other things I still need to figure out, going out with Eddie was the last thing on my mind. He knows that, but he stil said it. I guess he's just trying to help...

"What?" He looked at me innoncently before taking another sip of his coffee. "Alright, I think we're done for the day Conor, great work I'll see you next week" My uncle said as he turned all the equipment off. Conor took off the earphones and walked out of the little recording room.

"Thanx Ben, see you next week" Conor said as he walked over to my uncle and shook his hand.

"Bye Kate" Conor said as he walked over to me and winked before leaving the room. I felt myself blush and I looked down and mumbled goodbye to him but I'm not sure if he heard me.

"Alright, I just need to do one more thing and we can get out of here" My uncle said as gathered a few papers and left the room. 10 minutes later we were in the car, on the way back to the house.

"Uncle Ben...."

"Yeah Kate"

"So you know I met Eddie today, and he works at the studio right? Doing whatever he does. I was thinking, hoping, you could give me a job there too. Being an assistant or whatever job you have for me that I can do" I asked him. There was a bit of silence before he answered and it made me worried.

"That's a great idea Kate, are you sure it's what you want? I brought you here today because there are some people doing a few things on the house that's all and because your aunt thought it would be a good idea for you to get out a litte, but we're not saying you have to get a job or anything dear." He said to me and I smiled. It was good to know that he didn't expect me to do anything and that he thought me wanting a job was a great idea.

"I know, but I know you guys weren't expecting to have an 18 year old on your hands and I feel bad, not doing anything, I need to start making decisions because I can't just not do anything for the rest of my life. It's been on pause long enough and I don't want to be a burden" I said to him as I looked down and started fiddling with my fingers nervously.

"You are not a burden Kate!" My uncle said as he quickly looked over at me with a shocked and sad look on his face. "I hate that you feel that way Kate, because you really aren't a burden. Ok, I'll be honest, we weren't planning on having an 18 year old around but that doesn't mean that we're not happy that we do. Your aunt and I love you very much, you know that. It wasn't your fault what happened Kate, you need to know that too"

"Thank you, Uncle Ben. And I am serious about the job" I said as I smiled at him. I know they love, and that they're happy to have me around, but I can't help the way I feel about this. I feel like a burden and I do feel like it's my fault but I'm trying my hardest not to feel that way, but it takes time. That's what I would imagine a therapist to say I guess, but I don't want to go to one. So I have to suck it up.

"Alright, I'll speak to my people tomorrow, and you should be able to start on Monday. Being my assisstant. Lucky for you, the previous one moved to a different country so you get her job. And now that you know where the kitchen is, for the coffee, you won't have to learn much" He said as he grinned at me.

"Haha, thank you" It was around 6 p.m. when we got back, and I could smell my aunts lasagna from the driveway. Before she moved here, we used to have it almost every weekend because it was legendary. I don't know what she does to make it taste so good, and no matter how many times I ask she still won't tell me. Or anyone else for that matter.

"Welcome home" Liz said to me and my uncle as we walked through the door. My uncle walked over and gave her a kiss on the cheek. I saw her blush a little as she gave him a smile. I smiled myself, I find it cute that she still blushes all these years later. I looked down again, when I started thinking of my parents and how my mom also blushed everytime she got a kiss from my dad or whenever he said something sweet. They had their problems, but they always worked through it and whenever you looked at them you could just tell how much they loved each other. I shook my head, to get the thought away before I started crying. My aunt and uncle looked at me like I was mad.

"Smells great, Liz" I said as I walked over to hug her.

"Smells familiar right?" She asked me as she squeezed me back.

"Ofcourse! How could I ever forget that smell" I said as I walked over to get a little taste of the sauce she puts on the lasagna put she gently slapped my hand before I could put it in my mouth.

"Not yet Katie dear. You know I only like people eating when it's perfect and ready. Not the slighest bit sooner" Liz said as she took the spoon with the sauce on it out of my hand. "If only my children loved this lasagna as much as you did" She said as she let out a sigh.

"Are you kidding me, it's fantastic how could they not?" I asked her, shocked.

"They're still young, they don't know how to appreciate good food" She said while stirring the sauce in the pot.

"We'll they'll have to learn soon" I said as I started walking away, up to my room. I had forgotten about it today, but now I remember how it's not really my room, it's different. Everything is different and I don't know if I'll ever get used to that. I stood in the doorway, staring at the empty, plain room with my bags on the floor, still fully packed. The walls so empty, and I hate it but it doesn't feel right yet to put anything on them.

"Katie? DInner is ready dear, I've been calling you" My aunt said as she put her hand on my shoulder to get my attention.

"Oh, sorry LIz. Be right down" I said as I smiled at her. But I looked away and down at my feet soon after. She looked so much like my mom.

"You haven't unpacked yet I see"

"Liz...I....It's just..." I stuggled to find the words.

"Don;t worry about it: She said as she put her hand up to stop me and then put it on my shoulder again and squeezed. "There's no rush dear really, I understand this doesn't feel like home but I hope soon that it will. I know you're still coming to terms with everything. Take your time, but what you do need to do is hurry downstairs before my lasagna gets cold, got it?"

"Haha got it. Thank you" I said as I turned around to hug her and we walked downstairs together. My uncle, aunt and two cousins were sitting at the table, smiling and laughing. I put on my best fake smile and joined them.
