"Katie! Time to get up sweetie. It's your first day! How exciting" That's what my mom said to me a little over a year ago, for my first day of senior year. I pictured her delicate pale face hovering over me, seeing if I'm awake. She had the most beautiful green eyes, just like me. I'm glad I got her eyes. Every morning I woke up to the the sound of her soft voice telling me it's time to get up, I miss that. I miss her.

Now it was my aunt calling me, telling me to get up, because it's my first day of work. I wanted to get out of this house, help out my aunt and uncle but then again I also wanted to stay in bed and never leave. I remembered that last time I was there, it didn't seem so bad. Maybe I would see Conor again...

"Yeah, I'm up Liz, thanx" I said to my aunt. I let out a sigh as I got up and went to shower. The warm water felt relaxing on my skin. It felt even better because it was really cold here. I spent a good half hour in the shower before getting out and putting on jeans, a long shirt and a hoodie. I left my curly brown loose, in line with my waist. Ben didn't say I had to wear anything specific, so I put on a bit of mascara and walked downstairs to where my uncle was reading the newspaper, my cousins fighting over the last piece of bacon, and my aunt making coffee.

"Save some bacon for Kate would you!" My aunt said to my cousins and they stopped fighting. I helped myself to some coffee and the last piece of bacon. I barely finished my coffee before my uncle was rushing out of the house to leave and I had to rush with him.

"You're not going to be doing anything difficult or really important, you only just left high school after all, so you'll basically be doing whatever I tell you to do. Getting coffee, fetching papers, getting me lunch, answering phones. Is that ok?" My uncle said to me as he got in the car.

"Sounds great Ben, thank you" I said to him with a smile. I was grateful to him for giving me the job. I don't plan on doing it forever because even after everything that has happened I still plan on going to Uni. I had got into the University of London, close and simple and everything was set, but I told them I wasn't going anymore after the accident. So now I have to find somewhere here.

"You can ask Eddie if you need any help, he's always around or me but I'm am usually very busy, so I'd prefer if you ask Eddie. It's not that I'm not willing to help it;s just that I have so many things to do every day"

"Don't worry about it Ben, I understand. I'll ask Eddie, it's no problem" I really didn't, Eddie is a great guy, and he was so helpful last time.

We arrived at the studio and Ben had me to work immediately. I could tell he hadn't had a receptionist or someone helping him for a while because everything was unorganized and messy. I wasn't expecting to be filing the whole day but that's what Ben told me to do.

"Kate, would you get me some coffee please? You know where the kitchen is don't you?" My uncle asked me as he dropped more papers onto the desk.

"Now I do yes. Coming right up" I said to him. I was happy that I still remembered the way to the kitchen, although it wasn't hard to find the first time. With a little help ofcourse. I made my way to the kitchen, just like Eddie showed me, and there he was. Standing in the kitchen making coffee for whoever. Eddie.

"Hey, Kate right? What are you doing here?" He said as he looked up, surprised.

"I work here now" I said with a smile, as I walked over to the cupboard to get a mug out.

"That's great! And look at how well you're doing, you remembered the way to the kitchen"

"I did remember. Some weirdo stranger showed me last time I was here, and I just have a good memory I guess" I said to him as I poured the coffee in the mug and smiled to myself.

"Oh, I'm a weirdo now am I" He said as he let out a chuckle.

"Oh right, it was you who showed me!" I said as I acted as if I didn't remember.

"Hahaha yes it was, guess you don't have such a good memory after all" He said with a smile and then he took a sip of the coffee he was now holding. I gave him a confused look.

"What? We're allowed to drink the coffee too you know, and don't worry this is just for me, I won't be giving to my boss"

"Right" I said as I looked down embarassed. "I knew that"

"Haha don't worry newbie, you'll learn the ways of this place soon enough" He said as he walked out of the kitchen, with a big grin on his face.

"Newbie? Is that what I'm called now" I said as I followed him, making sure not to spill the hot coffee.

"Yeah, catchy don't you think?" He said as he winked at me.

"Maybe" I said with a smile. I felt my cheeks going red and I looked down at my feet.

"Do wanna go out sometime?" The smile left face and a few seconds past before I replied.

"Eddie...I...I can't" I struggled to find the words.

"That was so sudden, I don't know why I said that. Well I do, but, you don't want to go out me, you probably have a boyfriend..." He said as he looked everywhere else except at me.

"Not it's not that, I don't have a boyfriend and I do like you Eddie, really, but I'm going through a few things and I've been through a lot, so I'm not ready to go out with anyone just yet, and I basically just met you haha" I said to him. I felt  a little bad, I did like Eddie, but I'm barely keeping myself together, I'm ready to go out with anyone.

"That's why I asked you out, so you could get to know me and I could get to know you" He said as he looked at me with big eyes, and I wanted to say yes, but I just can't.

"Like I said, not right now. I just moved here remember. It's not a no, it's a sometime in the future" I said as I smiled at him, but with with a bit of sadness.

"Alright, but I'm not giving up" He said as he walked out of the elevator with a grin on his face.

I shook my head at him but smiled at the same time.

"Why are you smiling like that?" My uncle said I walked into his office to give him the coffee. I stopped smiling as I gave it to him. I hadn't even realized I was smiling until he pointed it out.

"No reason" I said as I walked out blushing. But then I wanted to slap myself and say get a grip. I was smiling and blushing, but I had just said no to him. Isn't that what crazy people do? Eddie was gorgeous and he seemed like a great guy and I just said no. But then again he did say he wouldn't give up. I thought of him saying that and I felt my cheeks go red again.

"Some people might say that smiling to yourself is signs of being crazy" I froze when I heard his voice. Singing or not singing he had an amazing voice and I would recognise it anywhere.

"Just thinking of a happy memory" I said as I looked up into his amazing blue eyes.

"That's not crazy at all"

"Haha well I'm glad we cleared that up, Conor. What are you doing here anyway?"

"Well, Kate, I have to get the songs, I have demanding fans, so I thought I'd get in an extra day" He said as he smiled down at me. I felt my cheeks go red as he said my name, and I looked down at the papers I was fiddling with.

"I'm sure your fans are very appreciative. I admire you for working hard for them"

"Thank you. Your uncle in?" Conor asked me

"Yeah, go right in"

"Do you work here now?"

"Yeah. I don't sit around at the house all day so I asked my uncle for a job, so that I could atleast give a little back to them for taking me in"

"That's really great of you" He said as he smiled at me, and I blushed. "See you later Kate" I'm not a huge fan of him but he gives me butterflies and it's hard to believe I actually talked to him.

He gave me one last look before walking into my uncle's office.
