I woke up the next morning, a little late from having slept in, and walked downstairs to get some breakfast. There was nobody in the house, that I saw anyway. I was supposed to go to work with uncle Ben this morning but I guess he went without me. I walked back upstairs, coffee in my hand, and I almost dropped it when I saw Liz standing in my room, silent and staring into my cupboard.
"Liz?" I asked her sceptically, walking into my room slowly to stand next to her. I realized she was looking at all my clothes that I finally unpacked and put into my cupboard.
"Sorry sweety. I was just coming to wake you up, but you weren't here and then I noticed your empty bag on the floor and I just had to see for myself" She said, turning to me and wiping a tear off of her cheek. I knew how happy she was that I was finally warming up to her and warming up to being here in Brighton. I walked over to give her a hug, sqeeuzing her a little to let her know I loved her and I'm grateful for all she's done for me. I missed my parents so much everyday and I know my aunt and uncle are worried that I'll just break, but for now I haven't and with my uncle, aunt and Conor by my side I'll be ok. I hope.
"Is it that boy?" My aunt asked, putting her hands on my shoulders.
"Conor" I said plainly. "Conor?" She asked, putting her eyebrows up. "I've like Conor from the beginning Liz, Eddie and would have never worked out well. I know Conor will be there for me always, Because that's the way he is" I explained the best I could although I couldn't really explain the feelings I had for Conor.
"If you're sure Kate. I only want what's best for you, you know that. It's just..." She let out a sigh before going on. "Your uncle works with Conor and Conor has had quiet a few girls in his life since I and your uncle have known him, I'm just worried that's all" She said, looking at me sincerely. I know she only had good intentions but I know Conor, and I know about his girls. I trust him.
"It's ok Liz. I'll be careful I promise" I said and I meant it. Even though I cared about Conor a lot, I don't know him all that well. "Oh Liz? Where is uncle Ben. I was supposed to go to work with him" I asked her.
"He wanted to let you sleep in dear. He's not really busy at the moment so he wanted to give you the day off" She told me.
Later in the day I was lounging around the house, Liz had gone shopping, and I got a text from Conor.
*What are you doing today?* He sent.
*Nothing* I replied
*I'll pick you up in an hour. Want you to meet some of my mates. Sound good?* He sent and I smiled. It would be great to meet some of Conor's friends. A good way to get to know him better.
*Sounds great* I replied and ran upstairs to get ready.
I was just about to send Liz a message that I was going out when she got home. "Where are you going?" She asked as she got inside. "Conor is going to take me to meet some of his friends. Is that ok? I was just about to send you a message" I told her. "Yeah that's fine" She said and smiled at me, holding two shopping bags in her arms. "Could you help me with shopping first though?" She asked.
"Sure" I said and went outside to grab the rest of the shopping bags. A few minutes later Conor arrived. I said goodbye to Liz and got into Conor's car. He looked at me and smiled before starting the car and driving to wherever we were going.
"You seem happy" He said, breaking the silence. "I am" I said, smiling. "All thanx to you"
"What did I do?" He asked innocently and winked at me. "I unpacked my things. And I don't know I just feel better. You're the first person I ever talked to about what happened and it helped" I said
