"Are you ready?" Conor asked me as he leaned on the door frame to the bedroom. I nodded as I quickly zipped up mybag, struggling a little to close it because there were so many extra things in my bag that I had bought. Conor just laughed at me as I attempted to sit on top of my bag in order to zip it closed. "You could help me you know." I said to Conor and he continued laughing as he walked over to help me. He kissed me on top of my head before he took my bag off of the bed and carried it down to the lobby. He came back up to grab the last bag and I checked the room to make sure that we hadn't left anything behind. "We could stay a little bit longer." He said as I stood in silence for a little while, just looking at the room. I had been in here so many times through the years, and with my dad, but I would never get tired of looking at it and just being here, remembering everything.

"No, it's okay. We will come back soon but for now I've been here long enough. It's becoming a bit overwhelming and if I stay here any longer then I won't leave at all." I said and he smiled. But he didn't know how serious I was. The longer I stay the harder it will be for me to leave because even though I love being in Brighton, I love being here even more because it's my home. "And besides, we have to get back before my birthday. Ben and Liz would flip if I stayed here during my birthday. It is tomorrow you know." I said and he nodded. "I know Kate. How could I forget?" He said and I laughed. I knew he would never forget but I wanted to remind him anyway.

After going back to my old neighborhood, Conor and I just spent the rest of our time enjoying being here. We ate at all the restaurants that we could, went shopping some more and just enjoyed each other's company. We visited my parents again early this morning, which was much better than the last time and we came back to the hotel to pack.

"Leaving so soon?" Martha said as we both stood at the front desk to get checked out. "Yeah, we have to get back to Brighton before my birthday. But we'll both be back soon, I promise." I said to her and walked over to the other side of the counter to give her a hug. Conor joined me soon after and gave Martha a hug too. She was smiling and crying at the same time. Soon I started tearing up too. I loved Martha like a second mother. I had spent so much time with her as a child and I was definitely going to miss her the most. "Okay, stop now. No crying." She chuckled as she handed me a tissue and I laughed. "You better come back soon! I would come visit but I can't take the time off." She said as she too wiped her eyes. "No no it's fine." I said. "I would prefer to come back here anyway, I'll see you as soon as I can." I said giving her one last hug before she checked us out.

As Conor and I were walking out, we were stopped by Jessica. I wondered where everyone else was considering they seemed to follow her everywhere. "Good, you're leaving." She said and I just looked at her. "What happened to you Jess?" I said, sadness in my voice. "You were never like this! In fact you hated the people that acted the way that you're acting right now." I said and she looked at me angrily. "I'll go put these in the car." Conor said as he lifted up the bags. I nodded at him and then turned back to Jessica. "You wanna know what happened?" She asked. "You left Kate! That's what happened. You just left and you barely said goodbye. I didn't even know where you were going. I had no way of even talking to you but you didn't care. I know your parents died Kate, and I'm so sorry about that, I really am because they were amazing people but that doesn't mean that you can just treat me like that. I deserved better." She said and I could see the anger in her eyes. "I know." I said as I looked down at the floor in shame. "What?" Jessica said in surprise. "You're right and I feel really bad about it. You changed your number but I didn't really try that hard to get a hold of you. Then again, I changed my number too. I'm sorry Jess. I was only thinking of myself and my problems, you did deserve better." I said and she hugged me. "I miss you Kate!" She said and I hugged her back tightly. "I miss you too Jess. I wish we could have talked like this before. I'm about to leave." I said. "You'll come back though right?" She asked. "Yeah, definitely but I'm not sure when." I said and she got out her phone. "Give me your number. We have a lot to catch up on, like that hottie out there." She said. "I'm not hitting on him, I'm saying for you. Well done Kate." She said and I laughed. "I can't do the whole mean girl thing. All our friends hate me." She said. "I'm sure that's not true. Just tell them what was going on." I said and she nodded. "I have to go, talk soon okay?" I said and she nodded again, leaning over to hug me. "Bye Kate." She said. I got into the car and waved at her.

"You became friends again in that short amount of time." Conor said as I got into the car and I laughed. "She explained what was going on, that I just left and she couldn't even get a hold of me and she was right. Friends don't do that, I apologied and then we were good. That's why we're best friends Conor." I said and he chuckled. " I see that." He said and I smiled. "Are you going to keep in touch now?" He asked. "For sure." I said. "That's good. You need your friends." He said.

We arrived at the airport and had to wait an hour before we could board the plane. A little while after boarding, we were seated and in the air. "We're going home." I said to Conor as I leaned over to put my head on his shoulder. "Yeah we are." He said, kissing me on top of my head before putting his head on top of mine. "Thank you. I'm so happy that we came here. It was perfect." I said. "You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. I was worried that you would have a horrible time." He said and I looked up at him. "There was no need to be worried. And I was with you so even if things didn't go as well as they did, I still would have loved coming here because I came here with you." I said and he leaned in to kiss me on the lips. I put my head back on Conor's shoulder. "We should start planning for when we're coming back." He said and I laughed. "I don't know if Ben and Liz will let me go again . I know they were worried that I wouldn't be coming back. But Brighton is my home now and I wouldn't have it any other way." I said and I could feel Conor smiling.

"We're going home." Conor said and I smiled.
